About this listen

THE FIRST NOVEL IN LEE CHILD'S #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING JACK REACHER SERIES—NOW AN ORIGINAL SERIES ON PRIME VIDEO!

“From its jolting opening scene to its fiery final confrontation, Killing Floor is irresistible.”—People

Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

“All [Jack Reacher novels] are ripping yarns, but...Killing Floor wins awards for Best Corrupt Southern Town in a Summer Novel and Best Exploding Warehouse.” (Stephen King, Entertainment Weekly)

“Combines high suspense with almost nonstop action. Reacher is a wonderfully epic hero: tough, taciturn, yet vulnerable.” (People)

“Great style and careful plotting. The violence is brutal...depicted with the kind of detail that builds dread and suspense.” (The New York Times)

Critics of Dick Hill check this out...

I was about to agree with a few people that said Dick Hill sounded like a drunk grandpa BUT then a thought...I checked my playback speed...it was at 8.5. I changed the speed to 100 and he sounded so much better. BUT then another thought...I turned the speed up to 1.05 and found that drunken grandpa had left the building!

Good book

Good book. Wasn't a big fan of his voice but the story more then made up for it.

Great Book.

Great book. Kept me interested throughout. Did listen at 1.5x speed but narrator was great as well.

Unnecessary voice changes

It would be preferable that the reader just use their voice, and not try to change tones to identify with sexes. The reading at times was irritating to say the least, especially when he was trying to do a female southern accent. Other than that, the story was great.

If you listen on 1.25 speed it sounds right

I almost didn’t get this because of some of the reviews. Thanks to another reviewer for the above tip- it worked great. I’ve never sped up a podcast or book to get through faster. With this book, though, 1.25 speed doesn’t sound rushed. The narrator is fine- a good voice and reading, deliberate and calm like the character as described.

Loved every second

I loved this book! The production values are amazing. The narrator brought it to life.

And the author tells the story in a lush, unhurried way that makes you feel every detail. It was a great listen. I was sorry that it ended.
