About this listen

When Rebecca returns to Yearly and hires a local contractor, she doesn’t expect to come face to face with the ex she left behind...holding a ring.

Rebecca Martin, a high-powered executive chef, doesn’t want her widowed mom to lose their family home. There might be a way through: Open a restaurant in her home town. That way, she’ll achieve her lifelong dream of running a restaurant, and her mom will have an income.

Then she meets the contractor: Her now-successful ex.

Johnny Cash Williams is the local do-it-all man. He hangs drywall and nails down roofing shingles, sporting a bushy beard and a million-dollar grin. Cash knows how to rewire a house, but he doesn’t know how to handle the sparks when his old flame returns to Yearly.

The town’s not big enough for the two of them, but they have to learn to make things work.

November Homecoming has a touch of laughter, a few tears, and a lot of heart in a small-town, second-chance romance.

First loves and second chances

Second chances at love don't come around that often. When Rebecca is saved by her high school sweetheart, is it their turn to find love? This is not your typical second chance story. Rebecca is an independent woman and has goals. She left to get her culinary education, and Johnny was not happy. Now years later, the two collide again when Rebecca returns to her hometown to help her family out after the death of her father. Life happens, times change and these two have definitely matured. Cash, the name he goes by now has had his share of heartache and isn't sure he can open his heart again. Rebecca is consumed with helping her mother financially. Will these two find that first loves last forever? This is a great story! Both characters have issues to work through, and that is what makes this sweet love story so true to life. It holds a great sense of community and the story is beautiful. I especially love Cash's son who seems to hold the wisdom! Give this one a listen!

Vicki Pierce is a wonderful narrator. Her voice is well suited for this story and I love that she is able to flow between not only male and female voices but an array of ages too. She gives a wonderful performance, one you too will enjoy.

Small town, clean audiobook

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Bokerah Brumley. It was a small town, clean read. I mostly enjoyed the book. Small town reads are favorites of mine. There were a few things that perplexed me though. First was how close childhood turned romantic friends wouldn't recognize each other by face/eyes or name after only ten years. A bit of a stretch. When Cash asked for her help so he could climb a ladder and have her hand him the tape measure? That was unrealistic. My husband and sons climb ladders with tools often. It just stuck out to me. Lastly, I never "felt" the connection between Johnny Cash and Rebecca. Overall it was a clean, small town, second chance story with a HEA.

Vicki Pierce is a new narrator to me. She did a good job.

At times it was just reading of the book, emotionless. But I honestly cannot say if that was a narrator or writer issue.
