About this listen

In this charming rom-com, two enemies find something they never expected in one another — taking "all's fair in love and war" to a hilarious and heartwarming new level.

Actress Bree Leake doesn't want to be tied down, but just when it's time to move on again, Bree's parents make her an offer; hold steady in Abingdon for one full year, and they will give her the one thing she's always wanted — her grandmother's house. Her dreams are coming true...until life throws her some curve balls.

And then there's her new neighbor. Chip McBride.

For the first time in her life, she's met the person who could match her free-spirited air — and it's driving her to the ledge of sanity. She would move heaven and earth to have him out of her life, but according to the bargain she's struck, she cannot move out of her house and away from the man who's making her life miserable. So begins Bree's obsessive new mission: to drive Chip out of the neighborhood — and fast.

Bree isn't the only one who's a wee bit competitive, and as Chip registers what Bree's up to, he's more than willing to fight fire with fire. But as their pranks escalate, the line between love and hate starts to blur.

Good fences make good neighbors — and sometimes love and hate share a backyard.

I love Ferguson’s writing and this was (mostly) no exception. I grew tired of the cruel pranks and wished there was more content of them actually being kind to each other. The ending was equal parts expected and unexpected- one of my favorite parts of Ferguson’s writing.

The performance was great….except for the male voices. I did not like the obviously female voice masquerading as a male voice. I would have appreciated having a separate performer voice the male characters instead of one performer for all the characters. Otherwise, the performer did a wonderful job with voice intonation, verbal emphasis, and pace.

Cute but a little Annoying at Times

I had high hopes for this book because I really enjoyed Meet Me in the Margins, but Bree was so annoying. The only redeeming quality that she had was the love she had for her sick niece. I only finished it because I kept hoping that it would get better. Spoiler alert: It didnt!

This book for me was “just ok”. It was a pretty flat read/listen. It sounded like a fun book based on the publisher summary and other reviews. It was basically all pranks on each other, no real relationship, until the last 30 minutes when they decide that “hey I like him/her”. I won’t be buying any more books from this author. It shouldn’t be in the romance category.

Cup de sac war

A fun spot of lighthearted happiness for the summer. Enjoyed it even though the story was predictable

Easy light read

The harmless “pranks” not so bad, but Brie got a little too mean and I’m not entirely sure I bought that she grew up that much in the end. Almost.

A little bit too mean for my taste

A must listen. I enjoyed this book so much, I am looking forward to owning a paper copy.

A+ Excellent

The story was predictable and sweet. It completely died at the end... it felt as though the author needed too get it in to publish... sort of disappointing

it was ok

I am surprised, but I didn't really like this book at all. One of the main characters, Bree, is unnecessarily mean throughout, and I don't really understand why. She's had a few blows in life, but there's no reason for her to be so incredibly mean. Chip isn't as mean, but for 30- somethings, they are both very immature (and unlikable), I really liked and appreciated their friends and family so much more than them. I think theauthor really worked on the supporting friends and family they have a lot more personality and depth. The ending was rushed and the epilogue was confusing.

A little disappointing
