About this listen

Nueces Justice features Texas Ranger Captain Luke Dunn, whose life becomes forever etched by the vast prairies of the Nueces Strip of 1856.

The Rangers had been defunded, but Dunn's call to duty wouldn't let him quit. His quest for bringing lawbreakers to justice creates a cycle of hunters becoming the hunted, as cattle thieves, whores, murderers, and Comanche are woven into this tale of the Texas frontier that stretches from Corpus Christi to Laredo.

The Comanche call Dunn Ghost-Who-Rides, young Elisa's heart is set on fire for her Ranger Captain, thieving Carlos Perez seeks vengeance over the eye Dunn took, Bad Bart Strong seeks to kill a Ranger to become famous, Dirk Cavendish and his whore Scarlett create their own crime wave, and everything converges in little Nuecestown, Texas.

As a woman I didn't expect to especially like this book because I thought it would be a Western. However, it was so much more than I expected and I really enjoyed reading it (audio version). The narrator really has a great voice and did a great job of bringing the characters to life (they have fun names too). After recently reading another historical fiction book that I loved (The Kitchen House) I've learned that this is a genre that I love and I'd say that is really the classification for this. Give this book a shot and I'm sure you will enjoy it too!

This book grabbed me from the start and I couldn't put it down. The characters were interesting, the storyline moved along at a nice pace, and I enjoyed learning reading about southern Texas during the mid-1800s. This book may be classified as a western, and it is, but it is also much more than that. I loved the author's portrayal of a diverse group of characters and the range of humanity that is displayed in this raw and wild west. Battles of good versus evil, along with the development of realistic characters, some likeable and some not, cause me to really look forward to Book 2 of Mark Greathouse's Tumbleweed Sagas.

This is one of the best books I've found. I think this is the first book in the series. It's not listed as first but I think it is. I'm starting with it. Luke Dunn is a one man army. He puts me in mind of Smoke Jensen or Jess Williams. There is plenty of action and a good storyline. I will definitely listen to the next book. Colt Tyler does a great job narrating this book.
