About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author Alice Clayton, the first in a brand-new romance series telling the humorously sexy tale of Roxie, a private chef who gets a taste of love - but is it to stay or to go?

After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood's elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she's needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she's back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks - and clothing - begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly...and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?

My Two Pennies

Shayna was incredible with the narration, I was captured listening to her tell the story. Now for the book itself. It’s a great read, sweet as honey. Leo can deliver his nuts to me anytime he wants! Roxie initially gave me those mixed vibes but not that far into learning more about her she grew on me. If you’re looking for a lighthearted HEA filled with lust and laughs NUTS is the book for you. Pace was great and held my interest throughout the story, curiosity took me early on with Oliver and I’m undoubtedly going to read his story next.

Great story, great reader

I normally don't read these types of genres, but this book was excellent. Well developed characters and a fun easy to listen to story.

You can take the girl out of the country...

This was my weekend audio read and made doing housework & gardening a breeze. The storyline was sweet and I loved both Leo & Roxie.

Roxie has returned home to run the family diner whilst her mother takes part on a reality tv show. To her, life could not get any lower than going back to the sleepy town she grew up in and serving up generic food to small minded people who love to gossip. Nothing can be kept secret in this community.

Meeting Leo, one of the diner suppliers was not something she prepared for. He is freaking gorgeous and has Roxie humming along to the Grease classic song, Summer Lovin. She is only going to be back in town for three months and a summer romance could be just whats she needs to cope.

Leo is sweet, funny and hot as all out. The more time she spends with him, in and out of the sheets, the more she is rethinking her future plans. Roxie soon realises that she can take the girl out of the country but she can’t take the country out of the girl.

I loved this!

Aww... Nuts!

Would you consider the audio edition of Nuts to be better than the print version?

Yes, I loved the audio version, and I enjoyed it more than the print version because I got the inflection in the narrator's voice. The only time I needed the print was one time she spelled something, and I was not sure what it was.

What other book might you compare Nuts to and why?

I guess maybe Tangled by Emma Chase because they both had so much humor and good sex scenes, with there actually being a wonderful storyline.

What about Shayna Thibodeaux and Sebastian York ’s performance did you like?

I loved the way she told the story, and seemed so amused the entire time. Like she was really living out the story. I thought he was very convincing as Leo and did a wonderful job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My extreme reaction was laughter and forcing every single person I could to hurry up and buy and listen to this book ASAP.

Any additional comments?

I will never look at bees the same way again!

One of Alice Clayton's good ones

I've found Alice Clayton's books to be very enjoyable sometimes, and sometimes they just won't catch my interest. This was one I fully enjoyed.

Narrator bugs

First I found the narrator's quirky, perky, staccato, trying-too-hard-to-be-funny style to be distracting and annoying. I started imagining her as a chicken bobbing her head up and down side to side as she spoke. At the same time her voice sounds like Wilma Flintstone. I do intend to finish listening...but I can only take this voice in small doses.

There's nothing not to like!

The humor, the setting, the wit, the nicknames, the food, the sexy summer nights ... This book is perfect.

Cute, funny & good storyline

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I listen to lots of different storylines, and with romantic comedies (which I love) you sometimes feel like you don't even have to finish the book to see where it's going. Obviously, it ends the way you think, but the storyline easily kept me entertained. It had moments of actually making me laugh out loud, which is one of my favorite qualities in books that are supposed to be romantic comedies, lol. The characters were extremely easy to love. This is my first book from this author and I am excited to continue to the next 2. I was in the mood for a good romantic comedy series (needed a new athur) and found her on GoodReads. Because I have enjoyed the series thus far (I can normally tell fairly quickly if I am not gonna mesh well with a particular storyline, author, characters, etc.) I will probably start another series from this author fairly soon. I mix it up with romantic suspenseful, paranormal, etc books as well. Sometimes I enjoy the emotionally heavy books, but not as often depending on the book, I definitely wasn't interested in heavy and I found this series. Give it a shot, hope you all enjoy it as much as I have. Thank you to the author for doing a job super well done.

GREAT BOOK

I LOVED this book. I thought the story line was great and 100% believable. It had wonderful characters . this was my first listen by Alice Clayton and I will be looking for more. I think that she is a very good writer and the narrator, Shayna, was GREAT! I felt like I was having a conversation with her. Never ever felt like she was reading or over doing it. the book was funny, especially the bee parts and her mother. if you like a believable, feel good love story, with humor and romance, you will LOVE this book.

Really fresh approach for romance novels

Really hilarious and a whole lot of heart. Although I think if I had read it, it wouldn't have been as good. Narrator was amazing and really brought the boom to life. Laughed my ass off!
