About this listen
A Tartan Noir police procedural set in Glasgow
Just as his partner Sandra is due to give birth, DCI Alex Warren is sent to lead a difficult and sensitive investigation.
Why has a young Asian girl been sexually assaulted and murdered in the home she shares with her Scottish boyfriend? Families are brought under intense scrutiny as Alex and his team look for answers.
Potential motives of racism, Islamophobia, hate, jealousy, and honor killing all have to be considered. But who is behind the killing...and what is the real reason?
Offender of the Faith is a stand-alone novel, and can be enjoyed even if you haven't heard other books in the series.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

Natalie Queiroz was eight months pregnant when she was stabbed by her partner in the most vicious attack imaginable. In the space of nine minutes, and in broad daylight, Natalie was stabbed 24 times with a carving knife. She suffered horrific wounds to her lungs, liver, stomach and uterus, whilst the knife missed her baby by a margin of two millimetres, before the arteries in her wrists were methodically severed by the attacker she finally realised was her partner. After heroic intervention by passers-by and police, the attack was brought to an end, but her ordeal was not over.

A fine mystery.
I do enjoy a good mystery, and this was my first time listening to a mystery set in Scotland that I really enjoyed. Interesting to see how such investigations work in Glasgow, which is a great setting. And I loved the narration. Fantastic voice. I definitely recommend this audiobook.

A superb Scottish police thriller.
Offender of the Faith. .
I think this audiobook is a rare gem. Maybe I'm biased with this sub genre, but the Glasgow accent and police procedural , bring back fond memories of Taggart from the late 80's.
A great storyline and characters produce a gripping audiobook.
Narration is good but some accents are a bit off.
All in all a good performance that is very easy to listen to.
