About this listen

Old Man’s Words is exactly what the title says. It is a collection of phrases, quotes, deductions, poems, and essays. Some of these words are my own thoughts and learnings. Some words are passed down and remembered knowledge from grandparents, elder coworkers, and community members. And some of the words written in here are insightful, relevant quotes from famous others. They are credited as such.

Life is a linear experience. One starts at the beginning and travels through to the ending. Problems and the solutions to them appear in no predictable order and must be dealt with using the available knowledge and resources one has at the time. In light of this fact, all the information in Old Man’s Words can be both irrelevant and just what one needs depending upon the questions or crises or moments of smooth sailing that present themselves at a given point in one’s life. Enjoy those “smooth” moments. They sometimes disappear completely.

Some of what is in this audiobook, you may already know. Some things may seem utterly alien to your mindset or values. Question, research, and explore.

I am not the final authority on any of this. However, I believe that what I’ve learned, collected, and expressed in these pages will help all who listen to formulate their own answers as they ask better questions than I asked and develop solutions that work best in their own lives and situations.

If I can help one person to reach their better life just five years sooner than I did, I believe that that one person will then help the next person surpass me by 10 years.

Progress is my goal!
