About this listen

Orphaned at birth to labor in a workhouse, Oliver Twist is barely ten when he flees for London. There he befriends young Jack Dawkins, who educates the innocent Oliver in the ways of survival. When Jack draws Oliver into a gang of juvenile pickpockets, tutored by the unscrupulous Fagin, Oliver’s corruptive influences grow. But for a boy taught only wrong, Oliver must hold on to what he knows is right.

In Oliver Twist, Charles Dickens furiously condemns the realities of nineteenth-century England and rewards those who can escape them still pure at heart.

AmazonClassics brings you timeless works from the masters of storytelling. Ideal for anyone who wants to read a great work for the first time or rediscover an old favorite, these new editions open the door to literature’s most unforgettable characters and beloved worlds.

Classic

Fiona Hardingham is a treasure. Literally one of the best narrators out there--up there with Jim Dale.

More than enjoyable

Charles Dickens' book was brought to life by the talented, Fiona Hardingham. When listening to an audiobook, there is nothing better than a wonderful story and gifted reader.

Don’t care for the reading

The actress ho reads this leaves a lot to be desired. All of her older male characters sound like Martin Short doing his Katherine Hepburn impression

Comments from a reader

This is a novel for orphans and those who had the leave their childhood families later in life. This novel will touch those orphans who chose to be good when the world wanted to turn them bad.

The most anti-semitic book I have ever came across

This is so sad to hear. It really ruins the enjoyments. So flagrant I stopped in the middle
Very unfortunate of Dickens to be part of a low mindset class
