Publisher's summary

These stories are meant to show human and lovable people whose mysterious passion for God led them into preposterous escapades. With an eye on the taste of a child for concrete detail and no apologies for the embroidery of legend, each tale, in a style akin to fairy-tale, sets forth the unique qualities of a Genevieve, a Felix, a Dorothy, or Comgall-16 real saints brought unforgettably to our attention and admiration.

Excellent storytelling on the Saints

This is a beautifully read book about the Lives of the Saints including Saints David, Genevieve, Elizabeth of Portugal, and Christopher. Each chapter is a few minutes long. It’s perfect for short car trips or bedtime listening.

Horrible! Tells LIES!!’😳😒😭😔

I chose this book for my kids to learn more about the saints. Ten minuets into it a couple of them came to me asking, “ mom, was saint Christopher really 24 feet tall, did he really move mountains and stomp on forests? “ l was appalled!😩😒😠😠😡🤬🤬🤯this is supposed to be beautiful stories of the saints! Not crappy legends! DO NOT NOT BUY THIS BOOK IF YOU WANT YOUR BABIES TO KNOW THE TRUTH!! So dissapointed! NO !!! I do not recommend this book. Yours sincerely, pig widget

A surprising favorite!

When I suggested my children listen to this one night at bedtime, I’ll admit their were some groans. My children are not perfect little nuns and monks- they were not excited by saint stories. Come morning they had had quite a change of heart- they were so excited and loved Once Upon A Saint stories. Ethel Pochocki has a gift for story telling. The mini biographies give enough detail to be truly interesting and Inspiring. She makes the saints sound like friends- which they truly should be. I hope more of her books are made into audiobooks!

P.s. To address other reviewers concerns, yes many saints were martyrs, and some of their lives were tragic. But all of their stories give us hope and faith and are inspiring. Also, as far as misattribution, St Alice and St Adelaide are the same person- just different versions of their name.

First story is credited to the wrong Saint

The stories are just OK, and more like fairytales. The first story is called St. Alice, but in reality the details, dates, and marriages are actually for St. Adelaide.

Not suitable for young children

I thought this might be an interesting listen suitable for myself and my young child. However, rather than a story about the lives of saints, I found it focusing mainly on the tragic lives, and subsequent deaths.
