About this listen

Cammie Breyer needs a big glass of Cabernet - her restaurant failed, and her chef boyfriend left for a hotter kitchen. Just when she thinks she's hit rock bottom, her aunt Ginger calls with a surprise. She's bought a vineyard - in Delaware. At Ginger's command, Cammie returns to Black Dog Bay, the seaside town where she spent her childhood summers with her aunt and her cousin, Kat.

The three women reunite, determined to succeed. There's only one little problem: None of them knows the first thing about wine making. And, it turns out, owning a vineyard isn't all wine and roses. It's dirt, sweat, and desperation. Every day brings financial pitfalls, unruly tourists, romantic dilemmas, and second thoughts. But even as they struggle, they cultivate hidden talents and new passions. While the grapes ripen under the summer sun, Cammie discovers that love, like wine, is layered, complex, delicious, and worth waiting for.

Good book but not as great as most of her books

I have most of Beth's books, both audio and paper. I have 1-4 of this series. The first 3 were so engaging and I loved them. I would just buy the next before even knowing what the review or summary said. But this one was the 1st book of hers I just couldn't get into fully, I'm not even sure what it was or why. I even stopped listening to then retry again 3 more times. Finally, I just forced myself to finish it. Maybe it felt a bit rushed but it was not, for me, close to her usual books. I still love Beth but I'm not sure I will give book 5 a chance. Undecided and underwhelmed. It's a super light read about women who work together to run a winery. Of course they learn more about one another and become closer, for the most part. But give it a read, it's not a bad book, just not up to par for me.

Not the best in the Black Dog Bay series, but good

I was a little torn about the characters - great dialogue as usual with Beth K., but a little cliche. The romance was a little weak, but I enjoyed it and will listen to it again for sure. Amy Rubinate can do no wrong!

Something is missing.

The ending is rushed. Plot points missing. Hoping new book will tie up loose ends.

Hard to rate the story--narration so bad

I like Beth's work and love a nice light story. The narration, however, was about the worst I've ever heard on audible, which made it hard to fully even decide if I liked the story...so overdone and odd lilts and tilts. Story was a bit overdone with flowery aha moments that were repeatedly followed by the same angst moments...over and over..so..she could have definitely progressed the main character more interestingly. All in all..ok but better read probably and def not the best in this series.
