Publisher's summary

Faith Holland left her hometown after being jilted at the altar. Now a little older and wiser, she's ready to return to the Blue Heron Winery, her family's vineyard, to confront the ghosts of her past, and maybe enjoy a glass of red. After all, there's some great scenery there....

Like Levi Cooper, the local police chief - and best friend of her former fiancé. There's a lot about Levi that Faith never noticed, and it's not just those deep green eyes. The only catch is she's having a hard time forgetting that he helped ruin her wedding all those years ago. If she can find a minute amidst all her family drama to stop and smell the rosé, she just might find a reason to stay at Blue Heron, and finish that walk down the aisle.

3 ½ stars. Good story.

But I did not like the audiobook narrator.

It was a nice way to pass the time if you’re in the mood for contemporary romance. It has a bit of a chick lit feel.

Levi never expresses his feelings. He acts and looks like he doesn’t like Faith. She’s the trusting one who falls for him and continues being with him even though he doesn’t say the right words. All she knows is that he desires her physically. I wish he opened up more at the end.

I loved early on in the book the way rich kid Jeremy became friends with Levi whose mom was low income and single. My heart melted over their friendship.

AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR - Amy Rubinate.
She was good when speaking dialogue. She has a nice soft feminine voice, but her voice for general narration and descriptions was monotone - like reading without thinking. Not good.

Genre: contemporary romance.

Enjoyed a lot!

This was really cute...I laughed a lot! From the sample, I was afraid I would hate the narrator, but she wasn't bad. I liked her male voices.

EASY, CAPTIVATING LISTEN!!!

I go through spells of listening to fast paced, blood and gore mystery novels and then I have to turn to easy listening for a short period. Which is what I consider this wonderful book. IMO, this story is complex enough to capture one's attention and is yet easy to follow. It's a "feel good" novel with a great ending! Kristan Higgins reminds me very much of Robyn Carr's style of story telling and I've read/listened to everything that R. Carr has written. I'm so glad I found Kristan Higgins.

As for Amy Rubinate, she's a wonderful narrator with great talent for distinguishing the voices of each character. You always know who's talking to who!!

Good job Kristan and Amy! This book is a great introduction to the Blue Heron series and SOOOO worth the credit!

Great

This is the first time reading Kristen Higgins. I enjoyed this read very much. Can't wait to read the next in the series.
It's not a hot sexy read, but it is very romantic and Faith and Levi are both sexy!

cute and engaging

the story line at times is sickly cute..which is by design and it all unfolds and plays out towards then end.. the ending isn't a twist or a shocker but the story I how you get there is so engaging

It was pretty good

I love Kristan Higgins books. I've listen to many of the latest books that she's written in the past 5 or so years. This is one of the older ones and it isn't as good as her recent ones, but it's okay. It's a bit drawn out. It has does have her usual funny parts here and there that makes you laugh. I love that.
Amy Rubinate is a pretty good narrator when you get used to her voice.

Excellent book except for hemorrhoids

I love KH books and she is definitely my favorite author at the moment . I love the settings , little towns she describes so perfectly. I want to move into each one of them while I am reading. I want to meet the characters because they feel like real people. Thank you, really , for enjoyable cute story .
However , her characters often come up with sayings that make my teeth hurt every time they appear. Who says “ oh, hemorrhoids!” ???? Or in the other book “ oh, holy Bieber ! And holy Elvis “ Or something like that . Which modern woman would come up with that nonsense ? And please , enough with lady land, , girl parts , lady parts melting , squeezing ….
!! I know , if you don’t like it so much stop reading my books , right? But I do love the books , those stories are unlike anything else I have read, totally original , not romcom in which you can predict every character’s move even before you start reading. Each character is very well-written , feels like you can touch them, they are so palpable . So why litter great writing with such nonsense about hemorrhoids?
The narrator … I miss XE Sands ,l, that’s all in have to say on a subject

Loved this

I loved this story. there was so much depth and history between the characters. The sister relationships, the friend relationships, the family relationships were very relatable.

Very entitled. Very miserable.

Story was cute. I hate the main character. She blames everybody for things are her fault. I hate the way that people look for excuses to make her feel better and put the blame on someone else. When it is 100% her fault. Love the dad. He’s just having fun.
