About this listen

Jo Slater has it all. The queen of Manhattan society, she has dealt successfully with a tricky period in which she lost her husband, her fortune, and her reputation. But she bounced back, and now, newly single in the greatest city in the world, there is not a cloud in the sky.

Then Russell Cole, an old friend just married to a much younger woman, goes missing while yachting in Barbados. His wife, Carla, tries to befriend Jo, but Jo is suspicious. Carla's past is murky, and now, with her billionaire husband's money at her disposal, she seems set on conquering the highest level of New York's social scene. Suddenly, those who oppose her start dying off, and Jo decides to take matters into her own hands.

Fantastic

Although the social stratosphere of NYC is completely foreign territory to me, I enjoyed this book enormously, principally thanks to Barbara Rosenblat’s wonderfully spirited narration.

A fun story comes alive!

Great story telling. Read the first book, so you have the background story, although you do not have to have read the first book to enjoy this one.

A wonderful Read!

Even though you may have an idea where the story is going, the tale keeps you listening as it unfolds

It took about an hour of listening to this book before I was hooked! From then on I was anxious to get back to it ane chose every opportunity to do so. I particularly enjoyed Betty and her wry sense of humor. The narration was superb....download it.......you won't be disapointed!

Better Then Expected!

I got books 1 and 2 of this series from the Plus catalog, thinking they were sort of chic lit or white noise in the background. They sounded interesting enough to try out. I was most pleasantly surprised and hope you will be, too. They are most definitely not chic lit; they are darkly funny and quite good mysteries. The surprise is buried in the main character and I won't spoil it for you. Give them a try; I don't believe you'll be disappointed.

Unusual

Dear Jane Stanton Hitchcock,
I love the character of Jo Slater- voiced by the soothing, smooth tones of Barbara Rosenblatt. I just finished a repeat listen and wonder how Jo is doing today. Or maybe some of her pals? If you’re seeing this: the NY social scene portrait that you write about is so much fun and even though terrible things do happen, it’s an amazing slice of life. Thanks for all of the entertainment. To audible listeners:
I highly recommend this book.

More Jo Slater please
