About this listen

Sometimes, one last wish is all that we get....

It should have been me.
I was supposed to be the one who died in the car accident that day.
Not my best friend who had a family to leave behind.
But like most things, life is unpredictable and filled with unexpected changes.
Like stepping in to help her family pick up the pieces after their world shattered around them.
Or the epic cross country road trip that we took to honor the bucket list she made when she was a little girl.
I never expected to become a part of their family along the way.
I tried to keep the lines clear and avoided getting too close.
After all, it wasn’t just my heart that I feared breaking.
I wasn’t looking for love, but that didn’t mean that it didn’t find me.

Great story with lots of different emotions

This story really hit home as I lost my best friend of 18+ years in a MVA. It was a great book, emotional. But definitely worth the listen.

Emotional

One Last Wish kept me emotionally engaged from beginning to end. It was so genuine and heartfelt and I was aching for more of Emma and John’s story as the story concluded. So many tears were shed as I listened to Emma convince herself she didn’t deserve anyone’s love because of all the past tragedies she experienced. Such a beautiful and endearing story that we could all learn a little from.

Kim Rossi did a fabulous job with her tone, pace, and voicing multiple characters throughout the story.

Five stars to everyone involved!

A sweet love story

This book starts off with a tragic beginning. Emma has dealt with a lot of loss in her life, from losing her parents at a very young age, and now her best friend Charlotte. Even worse, both events were car accidents that Emma was also a passenger in, and now she's left with survivor's guilt all over again.

Charlotte left behind a husband, John, and daughter, Lily. She also left behind a bucket list. Emma, John, and Lily decide to fulfill Charlotte's bucket list over Lily's summer break from school. This includes a cross-country road trip to visit Charlotte's parents. Emma finds herself fitting in too well to John and Lily's life and is fighting with her feelings over it. When she realizes she is uncomfortable with this, she finds herself wondering if that's a good or bad thing.

This book is a sweet and clean romance (no spice). Instead we get to see the beautiful connection Emma strengthens with her goddaughter. I don't cry easily, but this book had me reaching for the tissues, especially at the end!

Kim Rossi brings this book to life. There are a lot of characters in this book for one person to narrate, and she did a great job at differentiating between all the voices.

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You are looking for a sweet romance without the spice, that will leave you reaching for the tissues, in a good way.

emotional

This story is angsty, and emotional, .. Charlotte and Emma have been best friends. After Charlotte's passing, Charlotte's husband, John, young daughter , Lily, and Emma decided to go on a road trip to honor Charlotte.
Through tragedy Emma and John found love.
Kim Rossi narration is very good. She brings all the raw emotions to this story.

Wow, not what I expected!

Wow, not what I expected!

Survivor’s guilt can be so heartbreaking and Samantha Baca shows us exactly this in One Last Wish.

This was a very emotional story that gives us emotions from one end of the spectrum to the other. One minute love is blooming around everyone and then the horrific happens. Broken lives left in shambles. Is there hope after such a tragedy!

If reading this isn’t bad enough, I listened to the audio version and cried!!!! Samantha Baca, you broke me with this one!!!

All the feels!

This is a story full of angst about friendship, love, and healing told by a fantastic narrator. A must listen if you want all the feels, but make sure you have kleenex.

Emotional

I absolutely love everything Samantha has written. Not going to lie I was not expecting this book. I didn’t know what to expect but getting a gut punch in the feels wasn’t it. This was so different from her normal but just like everything else I have read; I couldn’t stop. I had to know what was happening and what was to come. I fell in love with every character and just observed every word. This story was so emotional and so powerful. The narrator did an amazing job. She was able to make slight adjustments to her voice to change them up for each character which made it easier to fall into the story. Seriously, such a good story!

What an emotional rollercoaster!

This book, y'all. Grab those tissues! You know when you first watched Finding Nemo and the shark attacks the mom and babies...well, this book starts out about the same way. GAH! Emma is the survivor of a horrible accident and finds herself helping her best friend's widower and daughter. She navigates her way through grief, adventure, her future, her past...so much in her life has ended in loss. Spice - none really, but you don't care because there is so much more going on. I fell in love with all the characters. The narration by Kim Rossi was good. The fact that she did ALL the voices...amazing.

an emotional rollercoaster brought to life

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: When I saw Samantha had released this on audiobook, I had to listen to you. It's a book I've read three times and I wanted to hear the characters brought to life. The narrator did an incredible job bringing life to this story. It's an emotional rollercoaster and well worth the journey. I think the narrator did a great job bringing life into the story.

STORY REVIEW: When I first read this book, I went into it knowing that it was different than other books by this author, but not sure what to expect. It was the best rollercoaster ride. I laughed. I cried. I fell in love with the characters and loved watching their journey. As soon as I finished it, I knew I'd read it again and I have - 3 times.
