About this listen
‘One Little White Lie’ is the third variation of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Lyr Newton, the author of the bestselling ‘Mr Darcy’s Household’. It is undoubtedly the most romantic of the three and also the longest.
Most of the story takes place in Kent, where Elizabeth is staying with her friend Charlotte Collins, and Mr Darcy is paying his annual visit to Lady Catherine de Bourgh.
During her stay, Elizabeth becomes acquainted with Lady Catherine’s daughter, Anne de Bourgh, and the two of them form an unlikely friendship. Their companionship provides Elizabeth with a better understanding of both Anne’s and Darcy’s true characters.
Darcy will also have the opportunity to acknowledge his mistakes and make amends, which helps to improve Elizabeth’s opinion of him.
Elizabeth’s growing friendship with Anne causes conflict with Lady Catherine de Bourgh, leading to a heated argument and causing Elizabeth to cut her visit to Kent short. Just before her departure, Elizabeth has a private encounter with Darcy, during which he presents a tentative proposal to her but she assumes the worst and stops him before he can even voice it.
She returns to London with a heavy heart, carrying a mixture of affection, shame, and remorse, forcing herself not to think of Darcy, the man with whom she has fallen in love against her will.
Until unexpected changes and revelations occur and lies are unveiled to reveal the truth.
‘One Little White Lie’ is a clean, sweet story with moderate angst and much romance, recommended for readers of all ages who cannot get enough of Darcy and Elizabeth’s timeless love story.

Story
So much in life depends on chance and sheer luck. How much do we often owe to being in the right place at the right time? In Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet plans to visit the Lake District with her uncle and aunt, yet ends up at Pemberley instead, just as, by coincidence, Mr Darcy also arrives home. They meet, understand one another better and all eventually ends well. But what if they did not have such luck? What if Elizabeth actually went to the Lake District and was nowhere near Pemberley, and she and Mr Darcy never met again until another four years had gone by? Now...

When pretending to be in love leads to the real thing... A shared theater box and London gossip thrust Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy into an unexpected arrangement. ‘Elizabeth’s Covenant’ is more than just a new edition of one of Florence Gold’s early novels; it is a revised version that, while grounded in the same idea of a covenant undertaken by Elizabeth, it also reveals an entirely different underlying mystery. Elspeth Awbrey, formerly Bennet, is the sister of Mr Bennet and the guardian of traditions inherited from their Scottish ancestor, Elspeth MacLellan. Married to Oliver Bennet, the man who imposed the infamous entail on Longbourn, Elspeth MacLellan insisted that all their descendants, whether male or female, must fulfil a covenant to ...

Author’s Note: ‘Flames and Passion at Netherfield’ is the second edition of a book originally released three years ago but removed shortly after. Its original title was ‘FROM PEMBERLEY TO PARADISE’. The story has now been re-published with a different title—one that better suits the narrative. Extensive editing has taken place (special thanks to Tish Holmes for her invaluable assistance), and certain changes have been made. However, the overall structure and main ideas remain consistent with the original version. The tale begins with a dramatic fire at Netherfield, just days ...

“You will be coming out at your next birthday and you must act like the daughter of a gentleman so you can attract a husband!” Mrs. Bennet reminded her. “Yes, Mamma.” Elizabeth’s mouth was saying “yes,” but her heart was saying “no.” She visualized what it would be like at her first assembly. Would she dress like her older sister and be expected to flirt with prospective suitors? How would John Lucas and her other pals react to her if she acted as a young woman instead of as one of the boys? As her mother droned on, she conjured a picture in her mind. Her mother was there ...

Mr Jonathan Phillips was certainly not in the best of moods. Yesterday had been an unusually hard day for him, and he could barely think how he was going to cope with all that it entailed. He looked over the manuscript he held in his hand then said blandly, “‘A respectable gentleman travelling on business was shot yesterday outside the town of Meryton, near the ancient Roman ruins.’ Is that what you consider a relevant beginning for a newspaper article? My dear fellow, do you really think that such news will make you a correspondent for The Times? You could not even dare to hope that ...
