Publisher's summary

"We must learn to live together as brothers, or we will perish together as fools." - Martin Luther King Jr.

With the Bible as a guide and heaven as the goal, Oneness Embraced calls God’s people to kingdom-focused unity. It tells us why we don’t have it, what we need to get it, and what it will look like when we do.

Weaving his own story into this word to the church, Tony Evans tells of a life spent between two worlds. As a young theologian he straddled black, urban culture and white, mainline evangelicalism. Now, three decades later, he offers seasoned reflections on matters of history, culture, the church, and social justice. In doing so he gives us a biblical and pastoral guide for striving for unity across racial and socioeconomic divides.

This call for unity is as timely as ever. If the church practices oneness, America will have a guide for becoming the one nation under God it declares itself to be.

One Human Race

While this fallen world has segregated those of different colors, remember that we were put here for one purpose: to glorify God! Dr Tony Evans tells, and gives examples, of racism in America throughout his entire life - unfortunately, we see it today - but proclaims unity that should come through faith in Jesus. The Bible is the greatest, but this book is an excellent guide to reaching out across a divide that shouldn’t exist.

Mirron Willis narrated well, was very clear and even passionate at times. It seemed a little slow, and I sped it up to 1.2x, but this is because our narrator wanted to be sure we understood what he read. Well done to both Tony Evans and Mirron Willis!

Every ONE needs to hear this message

EveryONE needs to hear this message describing why we have a racial divide in our country, what the roots of this divide are (you will probably be surprised), and how the church should be leading to minimize the problem.

The history of the problem, including the personal history of Dr. Tony Evans is profound and inspiring. You will better understand where your brothers and sisters in Christ are coming from and what we can do to overcome inside the pages of this. I am looking forward to reading the book now, after listening to it, as I often do, so I can really digest it and then make changes in my life as prescribed to help make our country and world truly one Christian nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

I highly recommend you get your own copy and do the same. Change comes one heart and person at a time.

The only thing that would have made this audio version better is if it was read by the author.

A must read!

Thank you Dr. Evans for a Biblical, respectful and encouraging challenge for each of us (regardless of race) to examine our hearts from a scriptural perspective on how we can help create oneness and reconciliation in the church!

What The Church needs to know

Thank you Dr Evans for writing this book. I wish every church leader around our country would read this book, especially if they are wondering why the church isn’t impacting their communities. My only disappointment was that it wasn’t Dr. Evans reading the book.

Missed Tony's voice

I was a little disappointed that this wasn't read by th author himself. The narrator did a good job, but I was just a little disappointed to not hear Tony's voice.

Poor narration

I’m used to listening to the author on various broadcasts. The book with this narrator doesn’t sound authentic.

Excellent content... difficult narrator

The content is crucial for today's Christian. The narrator is so perfect in pronunciation that it is distracting and makes persevering through the excellent subject matter a challenge. In the last 5 hours or so, the narrator loosens up and is easier to listen to, but by then, he has conditioned you to listen for every consonant...so when he drops a "t" in "correctly", this also becomes a distraction.
