Publisher's summary

The Lux series continues with the third installment of this riveting paranormal YA series.

No one is like Daemon Black. When he set out to prove his feelings for Katy, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something she'll do again and now that they've made it through the rough patches, well, there's a lot of spontaneous combustion going on. But even he can't protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they loved. With help coming from the most unlikely source and Adam's death still lingering with those who loved him, friends will become the deadliest of enemies and the villains will no longer be clear. When each step they take in discovering the truth puts them in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more Katy realizes there is no end to what she's capable of. They won't turn back, even if the outcome will shatter their worlds forever.

Critic reviews

"Armentrout keeps the momentum rolling with her third Lux entry. [Fans] will be enthralled from beginning to end. Katy and Dameon's heat sparks as the intrigue increases, too. Friends and enemies take sides, and the ending will leave [fans] yelling." ( RT Book Reviews)

I love the LUX series

I read this series a while back and loved it and I was so happy when I found the audible books and will listen to them all. The story is young adult but well written and the story keeps my interest. My only complaint is the narration. The voices all pretty much sound the same until there is an accent and those are cringe-worthy. Majorly. My other complaint is the pronunciation. Daemon is not from h*ll...it is a name and is therefore pronounced Day-mon. Lesa is pronounced the same as if it was spelled Lisa. We know this because she says Lesa with an E. If it were pronounced the way the narrator does, that wouldn't make sense. Finally and my biggest complaint. Daedalus is pronounced day-duh-luhs. NOT DIDALUS. I would even accept deh-du-luhs. Dae in Daemon is pronounced by the narrator as Dee....but Dae in Daedalus is pronounced Did by the narrator. I am having a hard time getting past this. I could let the names slide but there are so many resources for the pronunciation of name from Greek Mythology and Astronomy - how did the narrator get it wrong. Please...I am begging for the love of baby aliens everywhere....PLEASE FIX THIS!

Alien version of twilight

I love the intricate details of the story. It's suspenseful and thrilling with a sweet love story thrown in as well. Love this series.

Exhilarating

A love story that's unpredictable and so detailed. Love all Jennifer Armentrout's books. She never lets me down.

Just ok, not horrible but also not great.

This audio book was just ok, not awful but not great either. I knew it was a young adult paranormal series before I started it, but it definitely needed more hanky panky in my opinion. Also, the narrator is just ok, as well. But she pronounced the main character’s name wrong throughout all 5 audio books! That did bother me… a lot!!!

Love the story, dislike the narration

What made the experience of listening to Opal the most enjoyable?

I knew there would be a cliffhanger, but since the series is out, I also knew I didn't have to wait for the next one.

What other book might you compare Opal to and why?

Onyx

How could the performance have been better?

I would be happier if I didn't feel like the narrator was trying to speak to me in hushed tones all the time

A Pretty Good Sequel

Well, talk about a cliffhanger. Trust no one. That would be the theme of this book. I like the character development, not just between the two main people, but all involved.

It’s a book about friendship and how one moves on when tragedy takes place. The people who drive you crazy the most are usually the people you love. It’s working through those moments that make your relationship stronger.

The only negative thing I can say about the narrator is the way she pronounces Daemon. She says, “Demon.” I think it should be “Day-mon.”

Keeps you entertained

Really enjoyed this series. It’s been several years since I heard it so re listening again. The story is a good one. One of Armentrouts better stories. It is a little slow moving. She’s drawn it out into several books. But they go by fast and like I said keep you entertained for the next one!
