there are too many gaps in the story making you wonder how it got from point A to point B, or why. I actually didn't even finish the story because of the narrator. you can't tell who's speaking because her voice is the same for everyone, even male and female. not the narrator for this book

wrong narrator

I liked the performance and the story concept. What didn't work for me was how much you have to fill in to try an understand how the protagonist found the female, why the sentinel was so charmed by her etc. Maybe this was just to establish some basics in the book 1 in the series. I'm onto the first book in the series and hope there is better character development.

An okay read, but could have been better

It’s a uninteresting story with a lot of talking and little bits of interesting stuff. Poor ending. Just not good.

Not worth the credit

I first listened to this in a collection with a full book by Diane Duvall, it was the most interesting of the short stories and interesting enough to listen to the first book. I listened to this at a high speed, as I’ve found sometimes they aren’t quite the same after first publishing…this was. The narrator has a grating voice.

Interesting short story…painful narration.
