About this listen

Laurie Show was as compassionate as she was hardworking. The outgoing high-school junior worked part-time to pay for the home she and her divorced mother shared. Yet she always had time to tutor friends struggling in school. And she befriended a dejected classmate after his traumatic breakup with his pregnant long-time girlfriend Michelle Lambert. But soon things spiraled into jealous obsession, stalking, and a brutal attack that left Laurie murdered in her own bedroom. And once Michelle started telling one lie too many, the ensuing investigation shattered a peaceful community. Noted crime writer Lyn Riddle also brings you the latest updates on Michelle Lambert, her accomplices, and those involved in this unforgettable case.

I got lost during the story -found it confusing . It was overly detailed in some parts and it appeared disjointed at times. The author went back and forth using first names, last names and nicknames—took me a while to figure out the characters.

Confusing narrative

A great narrator! I will buy more from this author as soon as available

Lyn Riddle is not a good writer. Rather than going into some details about the entire trial, it appears she published the court transcript testimony of just one person, who is already an established liar so it had no credibility. SO boring to listen for hours to a court transcript, stammering, bad grammar of one person, that I had to skip chapters. The performance may have been good, but she was reading a transcript, how good could she make it?
Interesting story, but poorly executed.

Not great

Sometimes with true crime books, they will sound very interesting in terms of the details regarding the particular crime. However, because the " who ,what where , when, why " are usually known prior to reading the book, it takes a good author to make it interesting enough to want to read ( or listen) to the book in its entirety, at least without getting bored.
Unfortunately, there are not enough that fall in that category; this book however, is one of the few.
I felt that the author stuck to the facts, and didn't overdue it on the backgrounds of the persons involved; which was the problem for me with the last true crime book I read "Pure Murder" by Corey Mitchell.
I thought the testimony was interesting and didn't feel like trudging through slush to get through it.
Overall, true crime buffs will enjoy it mand I would recommend this one.

Better then I expected..

The author continually calls many of the characters by their 1st,middle or last names. Lisa went most of the time by her middle name(Michelle) but the author also refers to her by her last name. With so many characters being called by their first names sometimes and last name other times it was hard to follow. I watched YouTube videos to clarify who was who. Interesting story but a poorly written book.

Interesting story if you can follow

Too much unimportant rambling! It was almost painful at some points and I would fast forward to the next chapter!

Skip it!

Before you purchase this, be aware that the major portion of the book is devoted to the suspects' trials, word by word. It's extremely boring.
I was very disappointed.

Tedious

I don't think I have ever read a book that drags as much as this one . I just spent three hours listening to a ponderous description of where characters went to school, from Pre-K through high school. I might not mind it hottibly-- but the narration is also annoying. I'm so sorry.

BORING.

I didn't want a word for word account of the trial. That made it very hard to follow.

summarizing is a good thing
