Publisher's summary

General Erhard Raus was one of the German Army's finest panzer generals and a leading exponent of blitzkrieg in the east. German panzers were witnesses to the incredible onslaught that was the first few months of Barbarossa, then the gradual strengthening of Russian resistance, counterattack and, ultimately, the long and drawn-out German retreat. Raus and his panzers were tested in every conceivable tactical situation and, inevitably, Raus became highly versed in all aspects of mobilized warfare.

This account by Erhard Raus, edited by leading Eastern Front expert Peter G. Tsouras, concentrates on German efforts to relieve Stalingrad. Raus, as commander of 6th Panzer Division, was in the thick of this bitter action, urging his panzers forward in a massive effort to break the Soviet stranglehold. These journals were originally written to brief the US Army at the height of the Cold War.

Good luck

If you can get through the embarrassingly dramatic narrator you’ll get to some great stories sprinkled with cheese

Armchair Generals Rejoice!

Paneers on the Eastern Front is a book that all students of military history must have on their bookshelf. General Eberhard Raus knew his trade. He was an outstanding Panzer general because he made sure his units were properly equipped, trained and motivated to defeat the enemy. His situational awareness and flexible mind enabled him to improvise and adapt to the fluid nature of combat on the Eastern front of a World War II.

This book analyzes a number of operations which involved forces led by General Raus from Operation Barbarossa to the encirclement of Leningrad to November - December 1942 relief operations around Stalingrad to the defense of Kharkov in August 1943 in to the battles in defense of Pomerania in 1945.

Each chapter is organized into Preface, Introduction and then numerous examples that give detailed descriptions of operations. Having the book handy would help. There should have been an accompanying PDF for the maps.

Having this audiobook available has renewed my faith in Audible. Things were getting a bit twitchy there for a while with the recent proliferation of astrology and useless “self-realization” wastes of time being pumped out at an alarming rate.

All I can say in conclusion is that if you already have the book you will know that this audiobook is a no-brainer purchase.
Drop the dime, it’s worth your time.

Real history, real deal. No embelishment of facts.

I read this book knowing what it was like and how it was written.

It is not a romance or a made-up invention. This is history written properly, Not biased, and above all, it is not the opinion of the translators, nor the opinion of the writers or others.

A must for those interested in strategy, tactic and facts of war

Historic and epic. Worth the cost
