An Amazon Best Book of the Year

From best-selling and award-winning author Sara Pennypacker comes a beautifully wrought, utterly compelling novel about the powerful relationship between a boy and his fox. Pax is destined to become a classic, beloved for generations to come.

Pax and Peter have been inseparable ever since Peter rescued him as a kit. But one day, the unimaginable happens: Peter's dad enlists in the military and makes him return the fox to the wild.

At his grandfather's house, 300 miles away from home, Peter knows he isn't where he should be - with Pax. He strikes out on his own despite the encroaching war, spurred by love, loyalty, and grief, to be reunited with his fox.

Meanwhile Pax, steadfastly waiting for his boy, embarks on adventures and discoveries of his own....

Someone recommended this book to me because my son's name is Pax, and I am so glad she did! It's a very heartwarming story that addresses tough topics. I will definitely have my Pax read this when he is older.

great children's book!

If you could sum up Pax in three words, what would they be?

A different view of life through 4 eyes.

What did you like best about this story?

The determined boy and the adapting to the wild by the Fox. The Fox wants to find his boy but things happen along the way. The split view perspective of the boy and fox is where this book succeeds. .

Have you listened to any of Michael Curran-Dorsano’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not a previous listener.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The final seen with the boy and the fox and what would be my reaction to it if I was the boy.

Any additional comments?

You hear stories of people dumping animals out of their cars far from home. You feel for these incidents if you love and enjoy animals. It was really good to get a feel for what an animal might think when it is dumped off in the woods, especially were there is a close bond between the two of them.

You can tell it is a good book from It's cover

While I would not recommend this book as a bedtime story for small children, I think that it would be enjoyable for anyone 4th grade and up. Middle and high schoolers should have this book in their curriculum. I think I will buy a hard copy of this book to keep and give as gifts to several people in my extended family. You must read this book.
I am 60 years old and I still enjoy books aimed at young readers. My kids get a kick at their mom a “Harry Potter” and John Green (Fault in our stars) fan. When I get grandchildren we will probably wrestle over their reading lists.

Best Book I’ve ever Read/Heard!

A captivating, heart wrenching story between a boy and his animal soulmate.
True love demonstrated by the sacrifices we make to do what's best for the other. Keep Kleenex handy.

The book had some mature subjects surround the war, death, etc. I was a little shocked at first, and even cried right along with my daughter, but overall, we both enjoyed the story.
