About this listen

Pendulum: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

You wake. Confused. Disorientated.
A noose is round your neck.
You are bound, standing on a chair.
All you can focus on is the man in the mask tightening the rope.
You are about to die.

John Wallace has no idea why he has been targeted. No idea who his attacker is. No idea how he will prevent the inevitable. Then the pendulum of fate swings in his favour. He has one chance to escape, find the truth and halt his destruction. The momentum is in his favour for now. But with a killer on his tail, everything can change with one swing of this deadly pendulum....

You have one chance. Run.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Very exciting book. I enjoyed it

Kept on the edge of my seat,

At times, the music overwhelmed the narrator and I would have to go back to be sure I heard properly.

Hamdy is reliable in that he turns out a great story well told with engaging characters.

What is up with the sound effects

and background music? Could barely hear the narrator, and isn’t part of “reading” using your imagination? Mood music not necessary

Good in parts

Luke Thompson does a first-rate job of reading this pacy thriller, Adam Hamdy has the enviable ability to write sustained action scenes with clarity and immediacy, so the sound effects and music are superfluous at best, and often drown out the narrative, making some of these intricate action scenes hard to follow.
Hamdy has written a very gripping story, although personally I found all the pain and suffering began to erode my enjoyment. Also, I couldn't help question how a highly trained and thoroughly equipped assassin, capable of taking out armies of similarly trained and equipped law enforcers, could so persistently fail to polish off the central character who did a bit of martial arts in his youth. Yes, I know that if you kill off the hero the story stops dead in its tracks, but the writer has to get round that with more than just a villain who can only shoot straight when not aiming at the hero.

Background sounds and music are terrible

The background music and sound effects on this book make it impossible to listen to. Narration is lost or hard to hear at times. The story wasn't great, main character is irritating and survival of all the action is so far over the top it makes Bond look believable. Just bad.
