About this listen
America’s growing political and cultural divisions have finally split the United States apart. Now, as the former blue states begin to collapse under the dead weight of their politically correct tyranny, a lethal operative haunted by his violent past undertakes one last mission to infiltrate and take out his target in the nightmarish city of Los Angeles, deep in the heart of the People’s Republic of North America.
National Review’s Jim Geraghty calls Kurt Schlichter’s People’s Republic “a surreal, fast-paced journey through a dramatically different America but less than a generation away.... Violent, imaginative, full of mordant humor and dark, gritty details, you won’t want to live in this People’s Republic...but you’ll feel a chill as you wonder how different our real future will be.”
Author and television host Cam Edwards says, “Kurt Schlichter's People's Republic is a roller coaster ride through a post-election Hellscape that will leave you wanting more.” Radio host Hugh Hewitt says, “Schlichter puts a whole flight of Black Swans in the air - each of them plausible - and the result is a riveting, page-turner, and a demand from Schlichter for...more.”
People’s Republic is the first novel by Kurt Schlichter, a retired Army infantry colonel, a conservative radio and television commentator on the Fox networks and elsewhere, a Senior columnist at Townhall.com, and a popular and hilarious Twitter raconteur. He's also a trial lawyer, so he has an intimate understanding of evil and deception.
Radio host and commentator Ben Shapiro calls People’s Republic “chilling,” and author and columnist David Limbaugh calls it “a thought-provoking action thriller set against the backdrop of a shattered America.”
Fox News contributor and author Katie Pavlich says, “They say conservatives are terrible story tellers, but Kurt Schlichter destroys that stereotype in his new novel People's Republic and issues a dire warning about the future of America.”
As with his prior book Conservative Insurgency: The Struggle to Take America Back 2013-2041, People’s Republic takes today’s news, and projects the trends out into the future. Funny, frightening, and action-packed, People’s Republic is a thriller that will make you think, as well as keep you captivated.

If society collapsed, could you survive? When Morgan Carter's car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. But things are about to get much, much worse: the country's power grid has collapsed. There is no electricity, no running water, no Internet, and no way to know when normalcy will be restored - if it ever will be.

Story
In 1991, the smoldering ruins of Saddam Hussein’s regime testified to America’s unchallenged might. Having defeated one of the world’s largest armies in a matter of days, the United States looked forward to a new century of peace and prosperity. Thirty years later, a ragtag Taliban chased us out of Afghanistan in a humiliating rout. At home, our cities are cesspools of homelessness and crime. The former land of opportunity seems to be in irreversible decline.

Story
Almost five years ago, America—as everyone knew it—came to an abrupt end in a spectacular coup d'état. It was called the Liberation by those progressives and radicals that screamed for its outcome; the Fall by its victims whose freedoms were trampled. The White House and the Capitol were overrun by anarchists, and the leaders of the once-proud nation were either imprisoned or sent to social quarantine camps. The president was arrested and eventually died in prison, or so everyone was led to believe. America was rebooted in a new progressive/socialist image, Newmerica.

But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

Story
Before the lights went out, Jack Warrant never considered himself a prepper. That was someone on the edge, a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday cultist who had a fatalistic view of the world. He was neither a theorist nor a cultist. He was an optimist. At least that was what he told himself when the darker thoughts creeped into his psyche as he stared at the ceiling in the middle of the night. Whenever he started down the rabbit hole, he always clawed his way back into the sunlight.

Matthew Riker keeps to himself, doesn't cause trouble, and never talks about his past. But after a chance encounter with a woman and a small child on the run, Riker will have to make a choice: use his hard-won skills to protect two innocent victims, or stay in the safety of his quiet life. What follows is an adrenaline-soaked thrill ride that will take Riker on a cross-country chase, through the seedy underbelly of a New York criminal empire, and into the darkest places of the human heart.

When a viral apocalypse kills 97 percent of the people on the planet, the survivors' humanity is hanging by a thread. Amid the leftovers of civilization, ex-Army Ranger Jason Larsen is reminded of the meaning of hope, family, and loyalty by a dog and a young boy who are as alone as he is. The survivors he seems to collect become family, and that is very bad news for those who think they run the apocalypse.

Jay Brodsky is an enigma. To his fellow agents at the FBI’s cybercrimes division. To his new partner. Even to himself. For someone whose skills are beyond question, he often seems just on the edge of losing control. He seldom speaks about his family and his personal life, but he seems to be hiding something.

No other books on Audible
Kurt Schlichter has 7 books in this series but only this one is available on Audible. I am visually impaired and I read/listen to books almost constantly but I don't like starting a book series if I can’t read/listen to it all as an Audible book.
So, I read this book yesterday; if only because most of the men I know are raving about it.
It is amazing how this book is almost prophetic. With all of what is happening, this year in general. At the end of this Audible book it says that you can get the rest of the books in this series as audible books but only on his website. I don’t think I will be doing that but, you never know. I will probably be more likely to get them if Audible picks them up and hopefully with a better narrator like Scott Brick or R.C. Bray.

Red vs. Blue
The politics, by virtue of the plot, are crazy thick. Red vs. Blue. It was amusing, but if you're blue, you will need to sit through hundreds of pages that are a poke in the eye. If you're a-political (or Red), the plot is creative and amusing.

Great book, horrible narration.
JFC, the narrator sounds like he’s reading all caps. Like seriously just yelling through the whole story like the park ranger Carl from Parks and Rec. I thought the first version was bad, but this new read has me turning the volume all the way down.
FFS I’m listening to it now again as I write this. It sounds like my drunk brother in law on a Christmas eggnog rant reading a pompous article from the Atlantic in a sarcastic bellow. Is this for real or an epic troll by the author?
Can’t wait for the next book in the series. Hoping for a better narrator like Gilbert Godfrey or Eric Cartman.

Quick and Entertaining
Decent plot, can tell the writer isn’t as polished as some. The narrator is the biggest drawback, sounds like he’s yelling all the time.

Good with poor narration
The narrator was not so bad it ruined the story. I still found it enjoyable and recommend.
