About this listen

America’s growing political and cultural divisions have finally split the United States apart. Now, as the former blue states begin to collapse under the dead weight of their politically correct tyranny, a lethal operative haunted by his violent past undertakes one last mission to infiltrate and take out his target in the nightmarish city of Los Angeles, deep in the heart of the People’s Republic of North America.

National Review’s Jim Geraghty calls Kurt Schlichter’s People’s Republic “a surreal, fast-paced journey through a dramatically different America but less than a generation away.... Violent, imaginative, full of mordant humor and dark, gritty details, you won’t want to live in this People’s Republic...but you’ll feel a chill as you wonder how different our real future will be.”

Author and television host Cam Edwards says, “Kurt Schlichter's People's Republic is a roller coaster ride through a post-election Hellscape that will leave you wanting more.” Radio host Hugh Hewitt says, “Schlichter puts a whole flight of Black Swans in the air - each of them plausible - and the result is a riveting, page-turner, and a demand from Schlichter for...more.”

People’s Republic is the first novel by Kurt Schlichter, a retired Army infantry colonel, a conservative radio and television commentator on the Fox networks and elsewhere, a Senior columnist at Townhall.com, and a popular and hilarious Twitter raconteur. He's also a trial lawyer, so he has an intimate understanding of evil and deception.

Radio host and commentator Ben Shapiro calls People’s Republic “chilling,” and author and columnist David Limbaugh calls it “a thought-provoking action thriller set against the backdrop of a shattered America.”

Fox News contributor and author Katie Pavlich says, “They say conservatives are terrible story tellers, but Kurt Schlichter destroys that stereotype in his new novel People's Republic and issues a dire warning about the future of America.”

As with his prior book Conservative Insurgency: The Struggle to Take America Back 2013-2041, People’s Republic takes today’s news, and projects the trends out into the future. Funny, frightening, and action-packed, People’s Republic is a thriller that will make you think, as well as keep you captivated.

Kurt Schlichter has 7 books in this series but only this one is available on Audible. I am visually impaired and I read/listen to books almost constantly but I don't like starting a book series if I can’t read/listen to it all as an Audible book.
So, I read this book yesterday; if only because most of the men I know are raving about it.
It is amazing how this book is almost prophetic. With all of what is happening, this year in general. At the end of this Audible book it says that you can get the rest of the books in this series as audible books but only on his website. I don’t think I will be doing that but, you never know. I will probably be more likely to get them if Audible picks them up and hopefully with a better narrator like Scott Brick or R.C. Bray.

The politics, by virtue of the plot, are crazy thick. Red vs. Blue. It was amusing, but if you're blue, you will need to sit through hundreds of pages that are a poke in the eye. If you're a-political (or Red), the plot is creative and amusing.

Narrator was subpar. Voice is just too high pitched and made feel like he was yelling at me the whole time.

Solid plot.

An action packed adventure that explores the dark eventualities of political correctness. I will read the whole series.

Great Story

Fun premise. I will try another story featuring Kelly Turnbull but may get the paperback. Tony Katz’s reading reminded me of Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher. Just didn’t “feel” right

Kinda like Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacer

The narrator talked a little fast. Good read, lots of great jokes, the portentous kind.

Fun, Fast Paced Ride.

surprisingly prophetic story line considering when this book was published. good premises and story but the narration is awful to the point of ruining the story.

get Ray Porter on this one for sure.

Narration kills a good story

Too scary to think how he’s predicted the future long before recent events. Lots to think about.

Prophetic

I agree that the reader could have been better, but the book itself is good enough that I have purchased the next in the series via Kindle. Be warned, if one is "woke" then it probably will be indigestible. If not, then a welcome antidote to the current crop of books with seem to be infected with political correctness.

Good yarn
