Pickle Club

Very good. I'm not a quilter at all either, but I could relate. Not meant to be a spoiler, but you never really know if the man to confronts Queenie's car is random or is after her and Rita. Maybe that's the point.

Sweet story of friendship

I’m a sewist, not a quilter but have always loved the history behind quilters groups. The friendships, the teaching, the finished product created by skilled hands, laughter and patience. This story gives a peak into the history of these groups and those friendships we all crave.

Wonderful

Wonderful story and excellent narration! And I’m going to gift a new copy to Mom (a lifelong quilter), who I know will enjoy this just as much as I did.

7 hours I can’t get back

i’m not sure where the stellar reviews came from, because i’m not understanding them…i’m not sure if it was the story or the narrator.

Powerful story

Moving story of hard times, hill people and the gift of genuine friendship.
And the power of women who learn to take care of their own when the community around them turns a blind eye.

Persian Pickle: Good Historical Fiction Read

If you could sum up Persian Pickle Club in three words, what would they be?

Protective Loyal Friendship

What other book might you compare Persian Pickle Club to and why?

It reminds me of a very mild version of

What does Ali Ahn bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice has a touch of antiquity to it without sounding old, being that the narrator was a young woman in the 1930s.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The edge of my seat came when the narrator and Rita were confronted on the road.
