About this listen

A man focused on success. An artist determined to make a difference. A fateful choice between love and money.

Alex:

I’m on the verge of burning out, but I can’t quit. I refuse to be poor, refuse to return to Texas a failure. My career is everything - at least that’s what I thought before I was set up on a blind date with Jordan, the boy from my past I left behind.

Jordan is everything I remembered - a brilliant artist dedicated to making a difference in the world. He calls to my soul, reawakens the part of me I crushed in order to get ahead. How can I be with someone whose political activism threatens my very livelihood? How can I not, when he reminds me of the person I used to be?

A person who would make the choice to betray his employer and hand over sensitive financial documents in order to bring down a tyrant bent on destruction.... A person who is carrying a life-altering new secret.

Jordan:

I’m falling in love with someone who works for the most evil bank in the country - the boy I loved when we were kids. But he isn’t the same person. I know Alex - he isn’t a man without a conscience, a man devoted to nothing but success. The more time we spend together, the more I can see the familiar light coming back into his eyes. A light banishing the impostor who would choose murky success over ethics, sabotaging our relationship.

He’ll have to make a final choice - us, or his dreams of wealth. Have I gone too far, bringing Alex into my world of battling corporate greed? I don’t want our relationship to cost him his career, his reputation....

But maybe it should, if it means halting his walk down a dark path.

A path we now have no choice but to walk together. I’m expecting Alex’s baby...and Alex is expecting mine.

Photographic Memory is a steamy contemporary mpreg M/M romance featuring friends to lovers, a dilemma between love and security, and the struggle to overcome negative forces and be true to one’s self. For those who crave deep emotions, real-life conflicts, and surprise pregnancy. Stand-alone with a HEA and no cheating.

When Narration kills a good story

It was hard but I did stick it out through the end. I did like the story though it did drag a little but I'm not really sure if it was dragging or just the wooden and emotionless narration.

Opposites attract

Two such different partners must work together to build a healthy relationship! They each become pregnant with each other! I never see something like this happening, but then this is fantasy!

Double Mpreg! Love it!

I like Aiden Bates' books as a general rule but was drawn to this book because it's a little different than most mpreg books. BOTH mc's are pregnant! I was really curious about that part of the storyline and not disappointed with how it plays out. The only drawback for me is the narrator's reading speed. It is a little slower than what feels natural to me.

Completely different story line from this Author

We start off with Alex, working in a dead end job in the bank, his room mate decides that enough is enough. So he sets him up on a blind date. Poor Alex is beside himself and then look who shows up but his old secret crush but Jordan. Mr. Successful, Photographer, political activist, etc. Now things are going to get crazy really quick cause these two are hot for each other like right now. And before you know it Alex is pregnant and if that's not upsetting enough there is starting to be little cracks in the walls of the relationship due to the differences of opinions on the way things should go. With regards to the documents, and the corruption that is being covered up. On top of every thing else ,now Jordan is also pregnant, oh boy double the pleasure...double the fun.... Now the boys really have their hands full and some serious decisions need to be made! This has been an exciting listening experience for this listener/reader and I completely enjoyed the book! Once again Mr. Bates had me from Page one till the very end of the book. The narration by Mr. Hong added an additional enjoyment to my listening pleasure. An avid listener/reader Rock Tavern, NY.

I loved the story...

but no the narration.

The love story of two deeply damaged men... even when they both think they are absolutely fine :P

I liked Alex, I understand him very well, and yes, I can understand that his anxiety can be overwhelming for those around him, but those fears come from a deep place and are rooted into his mind.

Jordan... yes, I understand why he thinks the world depends on his actions, but some of the things he did weren't coming for that distorted view on life that his parents gave him. Particularly, disregarding Alex's wishes about keeping it cool at the party. Things could have gone horribly wrong just because he wasn't able to manage his saviour complex.

But I liked them together, and I really, really pity them: both coming from a C-section and having to deal with two babies? Won't wish that to my worst enemy! I hope they will invest in A LOT of help :P

Sadly, John Hong does a great disservice to the story. His narration lacks rhythm and emotional deepness. It's, frankly, very bad.

good story - not the greatest narration

Would I listen to it again: probably
Did the story keep me engaged: reasonably
Was I invested in the characters: mostly
What did I like about the story? Realistically flawed characters with the insecurities expected of twenty-something's and an interesting spin on the usual mpreg story.
Its not the usual standard I expect from Aiden Bates though. There are some amusing encounters in the story, but Alex and Jordan didn't really have much in common or enough time for each other to convince me they are able to build a solid foundation for a long lasting relationship.

I'm on the fence with the narrator. The characters have each been given their own voices and the inflections and intonations are OK and work to bring life to the characters, but at its intended speed, it was too slow for me and it couldn't keep my interest. I'm not a fan of speeding up audio's because some of the nuances of the narration are lost, once I changed the narration speed to 1.25 it was much better, but then some of the narration came through as flat and robotic.

fantastic

Photographic Memory is an m/m romance by Aiden Bates. Jordan and Alex knew each other in middle school but were separated for years. Set up together on a blind date they reconnect and begin a relationship. But they are in two different paths in life - one a banker and the other the activist who wants to brink that evil bank down. When they get pregnant with each other's babies will the stress bring them together or tear them apart.

I liked this story alot. They are both living a life they think they need to because of how they were brought up. The storyline was interesting and kept me reading. The characters definitely make you want their Happily Ever After.

John Hong narrates this story and does a fantastic job bringing the story to listeners in an entertaining way. The recording was clean and the voicework was well done.

I’m not sure how I felt about the characters in this book. I just hated Alex. That is who the story is about. He was a stupid guy. I just can't stop listing.

Overworked and overwhelmed!

Think of working 60 plus hours a week and being on salary. Yeah I get but this book went to the extreme. I wish their was more romance between the two characters. The artist who was an activist that kept getting arrested was fun, but not Whitt’s enough to keep up the amusement. 4 stars because it had a good flow and a happy ending.

Torn

I absolutely hated Alex. That is who the story is about. He was a pissy, whiney, stupid guy. I liked almost everything else about the story. but did not finish it because, really, who the hell is this stupid and paranoid. I liked Jordan, but couldn't believe he put up with him so long. Yuck.
