Critic reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)

Pimsleur quality BUT only one audio file :(

What did you like best about this story?

Pimsleur are a great entry point into languages.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

DEFINITELY NOT! The Pimsleur system suggests never listening to more than one unit a day. Unfortunately, all 5 units are on the same audio file (rather than being broken up into 5 different files).Having 5 separate files (one per unit) would make much more sense for me as a learner. That way I could copy the unit I want to listen to on to my iPod. Currently I'm unaware of a way to quickly get to the start of the latter units.

Any additional comments?

I absolutely love Pimsleur as a way to begin learning a new language. However, having just one audio file for units 1-5 is a serious drawback for my preferred method of study.

Super effective learning!

The process and progression are very intuitive. And great emphasis on pronunciation. I feel like I’m picking up everything very quickly!

Best content for learning Tagalog anywhere

Tagalog is not available in the popular language learning apps except for Rosetta Stone. I did Rosetta Stone for a month. The Pimsleur method is vastly superior to Rosetta Stone’s in my opinion.

Pimsleur is the Best Language Program!

I have tried numerous language learning programs. Never has there been a more effective program for me picking up languages. If you follow the instructions, listen, repeat what you’re hearing, you will be amazed!

I am enjoying Pimsleur’s Tagalog

I am enjoying the Tagalog course very much. I am part Filipino but have not spoken for many years and only a little then. The trick is to slow the speed down.
This is my third Pimsleur language course. I also bought Spanish and French.

Amazing!

I find it a very useful method to learning Tagalog, it's interactive, keeps you alert, and helps in conversation. The only exception is that I wish there were the written version of the course. That way I can visualize the grammar and sentence structure. Other than that, I highly recommend this program!

Effective and easy to learn

The lessons are designed amazingly well. I'm so happy I found this course! It makes learning a breeze. Strongly recommend it to everyone who is willing to learn how to speak (not write in) Tagalog.

Hindi

Good luck; I can’t get beyond Chapter 2. The native speakers are speaking as if they’re in a race with each other. You will learn, “hindi”, because it’s repeated slowly and clearly before the native speaker races to finish the sentence: “Hindi... (nikakaintindiakokaba)”

Speaker needs to talk a little slower.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If speaker spoke slower while speaking and not just slow for 1 word at a time it would be a better product. I find it useless the way it is done
