About this listen

Play Rough is the thrilling second installment in the Black Rose Kisses series.

Note: The blurb below contains spoilers for the first book, so I'd highly recommend not reading it until you've finished Book One, Fight Dirty. Cool? Cool.

Vengeance is coming. And she’s a cold-blooded bitch.

I can still hear the gunshot. Still see the blank look on Sloan’s face as he pulled the trigger.

Those images beat against the inside of my skull, drowning out everything else. I can’t let my dad’s death be for nothing. No matter what it takes, I’ll make my keepers pay.

The man who took everything from me.
The man who shared his secret with me.
The man who made me think he cared about me.

Maybe Levi and Rory didn’t know about this, but they’re still Black Roses. They’re still complicit. And I don’t care if the moments between us felt real - the hatred burning in my heart is real, too.

These assholes think they can lie to me? That they can turn my life into a game?

Well, watch out, boys.

I play rough.

This is Book Two of four in the Black Rose Kisses series. It's a reverse harem new adult enemies-to-lovers/bully romance that includes high steam, violence, and foul language.

amazing narration

I absolutely love the narration of this book. I was sucked right back into Mercys story with her guys. I was left emotional and reeling.

I really wanted to yell at that cliffhanger

what the heck was that cliffhanger? I wanted to scream. This is a really great story so far. I like that Mercy is a take no shit girl. shes strong without being cocky. Shes loyal to her father to the point it gets her in trouble but she stood her ground anyway knowing she messed up. I love that the guys are real people with real feelings and not the typical A-holes. I love that even though she was their sort of captive they didn't miss treat her. I'm excited for the next book.

Incredible Book and Audiobook!

This second book in the Black Rose Kisses series is incredible! The storyline and characters are addictive and putting this book down is impossible. Mercy is a strong FMC that fights against the perceived injustice dealt to her and her Dad. I love Mercy’s character, as well as Levi, Rory, and even Sloan. The story is full of action, betrayal, steam, and so much more. I will warn you, there is a cliffhanger, and it is a doozie! I really loved this book and consider this series a Must Read. I cannot wait to read book three!

Update! I just finished listening to the audiobook and it is fantastic! The Narrator does an amazing job!

I love it but the books are so short!

The story is good just as good as the first but I can't afford to keep buying the next book in a series with books that are so short. Maybe I'll get the next one when I have a credit available but even then it feels wasteful. These two books should have all been one.

Seriously.

I loathe the FMC. She acts like a spoiled 10 year old. She’s stupid, immature and deserves to be put out of our misery. While I know she isn’t going to die, I wish she did. I also feel the way Cassandra portrays her in her performance plays a part in how unlikeable she is. Also the storyline is quite weak. I know Eva can write better. Disappointed!

Seriously conflicted

This one.. I.. I kinda hated it - but, I also understood it, and *why* I hated it and ... that seemed like a natural enough reaction to the storyline, not pent up annoyances at stupid characters or whatever - a totally different kind of dislike. If that makes sense. (!) I understood where Mercy was coming from. I'm not going to judge someone's reaction to that kind of devastation. (Well, only to a point) So I commiserated with her to some extent, but I also kept (trying to) put myself in her shoes and found that I just couldn't 100% get behind her either. Grief causes irrational reactions, sure, but we are all still responsible for our actions. There is no excuse to make sweeping generalizations of a whole group of people and decide to, what? To exterminate them? Ffs, on a larger scale that is called GENOCIDE, and no, it doesn't matter whether you 'like' the group in question or not.
SO. Conflicted. I get it, it's not poor writing, I just, well, didn't *like* it. Still like the series though, but it's better without this one :)

To much inner dialog

I would have enjoyed this series more if there was less inner dialog. Half the book is the MC thinking about how torn she is between revenge and lust. Plus the word calloused is used, no exaggeration, at least 50 or 60 times!

repetitive

The narrator is really good. Eva is a good writer, the books are short but are even shorter than it seems. she took atleast 10 minutes to restate the same thing and at that point I was ready for it to move on. if this only happened once that would be fine but she continues to do it through the whole book. for $17 it is not worth it and I am sad I won't be able to finish the series
