About this listen
In this lighthearted romp through New York City, two clashing authors must blend their differences to prove every story is worth telling and that some genres—like people—work better together.
Siobhan Harris doesn’t think of her minimum-wage life in Manhattan as aspirational, but when her debut novel is published, she becomes an instant bestseller and a romance sensation. With fame comes foes, however, and Siobhan finds herself embroiled in a Twitter feud that’s about to change the course of her career just as it’s beginning.
An established crime novelist, Marcel Black is savvy in the ways of the publishing world but less than an expert on the merits of romance. So when his opinions are publicly challenged by the fresh-faced Siobhan, Marcel doubles down until their heated back-and-forth ends with an influencer’s challenge: to put their genres’ compatibility to the test, Siobhan and Marcel should write a book together.
To leave their mark, this unlikely pair will have to contend with differences in taste, style, and experience…and the building tension between them that’s looking a lot less like enemies’ contention and a lot more like a love connection.

“A fun and deftly crafted read from cover to cover, Plot Twist by novelist Carmen Sereno will prove an immediate and enduringly popular pick.”—Midwest Book Review

Story
Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

Story
Liv’s happy with life in her thirties. She has two cats, one BFF, and no boyfriend, which is just how she likes it. Plus, she loves working at a not-for-profit software company where she can be her authentically autistic self. This is her happy ever after. But when her beloved firm merges with a repulsive rival, Liv finds herself competing with her sort-of-ex for the top job. Sure, Finn had been Liv’s best friend, with his nerdy good looks and their shared love of Tolkien, but there was that one night, their song, and … well, she doesn’t like to talk about it.

Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

If Lark and Mikki didn’t have each other, they’d have nothing in this miserable town. So the best friends stick together, working night shift at the highway travel stop, going nowhere fast. Eight years later, Lark is finally getting her life back together for the sake of her young daughter and Mikki’s lovably prickly grandma, who can no longer care for herself. People have almost stopped blaming Lark for Mikki’s disappearance, and she’s engaged to the nicest guy on highway patrol.

Story
Sawyer Greene knows romance. She’s a bestselling author of the genre—or she was, until her ex left her with nothing but writer’s block and a broken heart. But when she gets stuck in the elevator with a handsome stranger, she sees their meet cute for what it is: just a one-night stand. It might have worked, too, if they could stop running into each other. Actor Mason West sees Sawyer’s reappearance in his life as a sign. Obviously, they’re meant to cure each other. Him of the hopeless romanticism that only ends in heartbreak—and tabloid trainwrecks—and Sawyer of her writer’s block.

Story
Faking an engagement to my secret high school crush was not on my to-do list when I landed for a short visit home. But when Amanda Anderson announces that she’s my fiancée, I take a leap and play along with the farce. Why? Because the Capulets and Montagues have nothing on the Andersons and Silvers of Tinsel, Michigan. In the name of bringing peace to our Christmas-themed hometown and ourselves, we’ll play the part of Romeo and Juliet.

Couldn’t finish
I stopped at chapter 24 I couldn’t go any further. The beginning was great, but I didn’t like the sexual tone it became in the book. It’s not for me.

5 stars
This was such a fun and uplifting read that left me smiling from start to finish! While it included the familiar tropes you’d expect when a stubborn, set-in-his-ways man is forced to work alongside a fiercely independent, headstrong woman, it was handled with so much charm and heart that I couldn’t get enough. One scene had me laughing out loud when their argument escalated on Twitter—what started as a simple disagreement turned into a full-blown public exchange of witty, and at times petty, comments. Watching their dynamic shift as they navigated their differences, challenging and pushing each other to grow, was so rewarding. Their transformation, both as individuals and as a couple, felt genuine and deeply heartfelt. The blend of humor, sweet moments, and romantic tension made this book an absolute delight. It delivered everything I hoped for and more—I can’t recommend it enough!

Dragging
Could have been really good. Too long to get to the point. The guy could have been himself not add to hive voice sounding like he is from the streets I understand that anger is the first with someone, but that background that is scared. The story could’ve been so much more.

Couldn’t finish it.
From the first chapter I had a feeling I wouldn’t like this book. The writing isn’t great - seems more like a fan fiction novel or like the one she described in those first chapters - amateur writing from an unpublished author. The male protagonist was eminently unlikable. And the male narrator did a piss poor job of representing a man from New Orleans.
Usually I can power through even mediocre books, but between the painful prose, Siobhan being a doormat, and the male lead… I quit this one.
