About this listen

A twisty Scottish mystery

Can Ian and Lottie solve the puzzle of the postcards?

World famous concert pianist Felix Lansman has a collection of postcards sent to him anonymously. He is sure they are from the love of his life, Jamie McLeash. But Jamie disappeared six years ago - the night Felix’s father was murdered. Police failed to make any arrests and the case was closed. Was Jamie a suspect and if so, why is he sending the postcards? Felix wants Ian to find out.

The trail takes Ian all over Scotland and the more he discovers about Jamie the more he is convinced of his innocence. If he finds him, he could help him clear his name. But it soon becomes evident that Ian is not the only one looking for Jamie. He should report his findings to the police, but this could lead to the arrest of an innocent man.

Can he find the real murderer before the murderer finds Jamie?

I enjoyed both the narration and the story. The narrator used different voices and his accents were easy to understand.

I also enjoyed the story. The main character, Ian, is very likeable, a hard worker with compassion and morals. I thought the story was original and flowed well.

I received a free audible version from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

very entertaining cozy

This is the perfect book to curl up with when you want some quality me time. Ian Skair is a likable protagonist that is good at his job. He runs a private investigation business out of his home in a Scottish village and recently it has begun to take off. Now with a backlog of cases, he must solve the mystery, make sure Lottie gets her walks on the shore, and run the occasional errand for his elderly neighbor.

The case at the top of his list focuses on a series of postcards that lead him around Scotland to discover who is sending them and why. Although what I've described sounds kind of idyllic, there is still a murder to be solved. The story kept my interest throughout.

The lovely narration helped make the story come to life for me and I'm eager for the rest of the Ian Skair books to become available on Audible.

I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. I enjoyed this twisty mystery. The narrator was perfect for this book. His Scottish accent took some getting use to, but was done very well. He had different voices, so it made it easier to distinguish between characters. 5 stars for him.

Ian and his dog, Lottie solve another mystery.

The mystery was ideal for me. The narrator had a voice that was easy to listen to, and did other voices reasonably well. I actually really enjoyed the narrator, he fit perfectly with the character I imagined. I enjoyed the detail of Scotland, and felt like I was traveling along at times. I highly recommend this mystery.

Enjoyable audiobook, perfect for long car ride.

This was a really interesting, complex case. Because of Ian’s past, he knows how to investigate. He also has ethics which is refreshing. The characters are wonderful and I loved the reference to characters from the previous book. It people haven’t read the previous book, it won’t be a problem, but it nice bonus if you have read it. This is one of my favorite series.

I had previously read the book, but I really enjoyed the audiobook version. The narrator really brought the character to life with the accent.

Thank you to the author for the free copy of this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The book itself was okay, not really my jam. I actually re-started it from the beginning several times thinking I was missing something because, while the lead is likable, it's overall just dull. Eventually I came to realize that this writing style just isn't for me—I tend to not do well with authors who favor all 'telling' instead of 'showing'.

Audio:
Smooth sound quality, excellent narration. Overall a great production on this front.

Not for me...
