About this listen

A secret lies buried at the heart of her family - but it can’t stay hidden forever.

When Cara stumbles across a stash of old postcards in the attic, their contents make her question everything she thought she knew.

The story she pieces together is confusing and unsettling, and appears to have been patched over with lies. But who can tell her the truth? With her father sinking into Alzheimer’s and her brother reluctant to help, it seems Cara will never find the answers to her questions. One thing is clear, though: someone knows more than they’re letting on.

Torn between loyalty to her family and dread of what she might find, Cara digs into the early years of her parents’ troubled marriage, hunting down long-lost relatives who might help unravel the mystery. But the picture that begins to emerge is not at all the one she’d expected - because as she soon discovers, lies have a habit of multiplying....

I loved this book! Captivating from the start. I liked how chapters alternated between the past and present to explain history. Great to listen to story during long drive.

Beautiful story

Loved it. A parent"s love is always important even if circumstances make it difficult to know that love.

Briefly, the best thing about this novel in my opinion, was the ending. It was not your typical happy ending, but a realistic one which made the entire story fall together nicely.

a good story with a perfect ending

The voice and intonation is unchanging from chapter to chapter and character to character. Cannot tell when story goes from past to present and to a different character - all the same accent and all

Narration annoying

Imogen Clark’s storyline, characters and excellent writing style kept me entertained and I found myself completely taken into the world of Cara, the main character whom you can really grow attached to.
The narration by Henrietta Meire was excellent. I highly recommend Postcards from a Stranger.

I enjoyed this book but got slightly confused with the many short chapters shifting back and forth over the years.
came together well inspite of the trite ending

light easy family drama

30 minutes in and I turned off the audiobook and was ready to have a “Did Not Finish” book. I reread the reviews and decided to push through Joseph’s verbal abuse of his wife. Having a father with dementia who was an absolute sweetheart this book was a challenge for me, but I am glad I continued. The narration was spot on and overall this was a good read. I am going to read a comedy next though 😂

Had to push through the verbal abuse
