Publisher's summary

You are not alone in meeting life’s challenges.
Your soul is with you always.

Regardless of your situation, spiritual and paranormal resources are here, now, for you to call on. You can use them to change things for the better.

In Psychology of the Soul and the Paranormal, Rev. Karen E. Herrick, PhD shares what she has learned over many years in clinical practice and personal struggles. If you are interested in harnessing the deeper levels of consciousness to daily life, this book is for you.

Rev. Herrick describes various kinds of paranormal experiences that have been widely reported and appear to be fairly common. These phenomena have been the subject of psychical research for well over a century, and their existence is reasonably established.

Several varieties of psychic perception, such as the relatively common one of intuition, are explained. The text is enhanced by an illustration of the bodily channels of psychic energy we all possess.

Particularly striking are communications from the spirits of those who have passed from earthly life, whose thoughts are transmitted via living people with the unusual ability known as mediumship. Convincing demonstrations of contact by “dead” relatives and friends open up a whole new dimension, which aids in chronic grief. If you are unprepared for such revelations you may need guidance to incorporate them into your life. The book’s discussion of mediumship will help.

The author explains the nervous system - particularly the vagus nerve - from a clairvoyant/spiritual perspective; the psychic centers known as chakras; and each person’s subtle bodies that enable travel out of the physical body and post-mortem survival.
Rev. Herrick began to develop her understanding under trying conditions in her early life. How she went from trying to cope with stresses to transcending them, partly through paranormal means, rounds out this study that you can take to heart.

Good book for beginners

This book is great for beginners and folks working as therapists or social workers. we are given no training in this area and I imagine someone could be diagnosed incorrectly. I appreciate lots of references to real life experience along with a great range of information on the metaphysical world. I loved that Jung was woven through the book. I am new to metaphysical ideas and a social worker, so this was right up my alley.

Disappointed

This a memoir. The title is misleading. This is a story, with few examples of the paranormal. The Christian perspective is pushed and appears to be the only lens the author uses. I’m incredibly disappointed with this book. Little to no science. Let the Rev. at the beginning of her name be a warning; this is a Christian book.
