About this listen

Two rivals, one secret, and a shot at forever....

Jake:

Favorite things and peeps: hockey, family, friends.

Least favorite person in the entire history of the universe: Mason Trinsky.

I have my reasons, but since you’re curious, Trinsky is a showboat and a loudmouth. Sure, he’s a great athlete. Good for him. I accept that we have mutual friends, and I grudgingly accept that he’ll be a coach at Elmwood Junior Camp this summer—however, I plan to keep my distance.

Of course, some wise guy pairs us up for a camping expedition, and everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

Guess who I’m stuck with?

Trinsky:

Favorite things and peeps: hockey, surfing, and my kid brother.

Least favorite person in the entire history of the universe: Jake Milligan.

Look, I might be in the minority, but if you ask me, Jake is a nitpicking diva who wants everything his way. I hope my NHL team crushes his, and this summer, I want my campers to out-prank his. Childish? Nah, it’s all in good fun.

Until it starts to feel…complicated. I shouldn’t care if he’s happy, should I? I don’t want to be Jake’s friend. I don’t want to have feelings for him at all.

The only thing that matters is hockey. It's all about the puck. Not love.

Or is it?

Puck Love is an MM bisexual, small-town romance featuring hockey’s hottest rivals, a hiking trip gone wrong, and a shot at forever....

Jake and Trisky are two ice hockey players who have always detested each other. One is calm, analytical and responsible, the other is bold, prankster and a little wild. But when they meet at a fundraising camp, their relationship will change.

I really liked the relationship they have with their respective siblings. The romance is beautiful, it takes us through all moods, from laughter to tears. At some points I cried.

I love the narration, Nick Russo knows how to give emotion to the magnificent dialogues of the author.

I highly recommend listening to it.

Jake & Mason
I love when enemies/rivals are simply that way because they haven't truly understood one another in the past. Once these two get the chance to spend significant time together and learn more about each other, it's much easier to recognize the lessening of animosity between the two of them.
Jake & Mason are forced together by coincidence of the fates(the non-paranormal version😜) when so many things align during a camp outing that they spend the bulk of the time just the two of them alone. I love that this outing really cements their similarities and the connection they made with one another to allow them to explore their feelings. Enemies to lovers stories can sometimes be one of those tropes that does or doesn't work, and it definitely works in Puck Love.

I love that this brings the Elmwood series almost full circle, because Jake is the son of a previous MC, and it's always wonderful to see the stories extend beyond the initial universe, especially within the same series.

Leaving the Elmwood stories behind will be hard, but it is definitely a series that can be read over and over again. Each of the stories and their MCs are worth knowing and loving.

Audiobook Update (May 2025)
Narrated by Nick J. Russo
I loved Nick's take on these two MCs! The subtle shift he was able to showcase as the difference between the two characters was fascinating. As someone with significant hearing loss, I loved knowing that I could always track which character's POV was currently in play.
I loved my read-through of Puck Love earlier this year, but experiencing the hilarious relationship unfold via audiobook was incredibly fun! Jake & Trinsky were given a voice to share their adventure & journey into friendship & love. I enjoyed every minute of it!❤️

Definitely a first time for everything! Two rival hockey players in a tent together! What could go wrong? or should I say what could go right? These two have completely misunderstood each other for a long time. I liked that this did realistically cause friction. It was wonderful to watch Jake and Mase have to get to each other for real. I enjoyed that this one was a bit emotional but still had all the friend and family comradery all around them to bring me back to a smile and a laugh every time! Elmwood is small time goals. Nick J. Russo was for real the best narrator for these two! He brought out the tension that led to wonderful emotions of love!

I cannot believe this is the first story I have listened to in this series! It really is a standalone, but I plan on listening to them all, beginning with the first one. The enemies to lovers trope was a little different than usual, and I liked the variation. The MCs are well-thought out characters, and I loved that they both love their families, especially their siblings. The narrator did a great job giving all of the characters their own distinct voice.

This was such a great audiobook. It was my first book in the series and by Lane Hayes. It didn't follow the enemies to Lovers plot I thought it would. It surprised me in a pleasant way. Their relationship was sweet and flowed gracefully with little to no angst. I'm definitely going to have to read the rest of the books in the series now.

The narration was top notch. I always like listening to Nick J. Russo and he did a fantastic job on this book. It was short and sweet and could easily be listened to in one day. Especially if you have a long commute.
