About this listen

The irresistible companion to the number one New York Times best seller Dumplin’, soon to be a major motion picture starring Danielle Macdonald and Jennifer Aniston!

Millie Michalchuk has gone to fat camp every year since she was a little girl. Not this year. This year she has new plans to chase her secret dream of being a newscaster - and to kiss the boy she’s crushing on.

Callie Reyes is the pretty girl who is next in line for dance team captain and has the popular boyfriend. But when it comes to other girls, she’s more frenemy than friend.

When circumstances bring the girls together over the course of a semester, they surprise everyone (especially themselves) by realizing that they might have more in common than they ever imagined.

A story about unexpected friendship, romance, and Texas-size girl power, this is another winner from Julie Murphy.

Fabulous Book 2 in series

Truly loved both Dumplin’ and Puddin’. Julie Murphy is a voice of self-esteem, girl power and the bond of youth and girlfriends. She tells a wonderful story with compelling, wonderful characters.

Great second chapter in the Dumplin’verse!

I was a little hesitant about this book at first because of how terrible Callie was in Dumplin’, but I ended up loving it! This turned into a great story about how people can hide behind personas they’ve made for themselves, but that doesn’t make them who they are. As a self proclaimed fat girl, it’s also so wonderful to see a story about a fat girl written by a real fat girl. Julie Murphy captures that so well and highlights that all of our stories are full, complex, deep, and complex. Some great cameos from Dumplin’ characters (including my favorite, Mitch) as well as new characters.

A must read for any dedicated reader

This book was an absolutely beautiful piece of literature. It has expanded mine and hopefully many others ideas on having confidence no matter your body type, perseverance, teenage romance, and of course the true meaning of friendship. This story will make you listen to the end before even catching a breath. This spectacular tale of the girls in two universes have there fates finally intertwine is so moving that I anyone who knows fine writing can not disagree. But to the degree this book is at, the cheery, emotion full voices of two girls narrating really brings this whole experience to a new level. With genuine joy and happiness to sorrow these two women make the listener feel each and every emotion as if Cali and Millie were right there conversing with you. Don’t forget the hilarity of the so-called male voices that are single handily(actually double) announced through the speaker on hopefully devices all over the world. I will never forget this excellent book in all my life. It really brings me to pure and utter joy to write this review to share my love for this book.

Loved the Story but

I loved this book just as much as Dumplin. My only hesitation was Millies narration. It seemed almost a superhero vibe in the cadence of the voice but even more it seems as though the characters of Millie and Cali could have switched narration.

Very cute story

I enjoyed this book. It is an easy storyline. However, the two narrators’ voices seemed to fit more to the opposite character. The narrator for Millie had a bit of an attitude to her voice which should have been for Callie. And the narrator for Callie had a much sweeter voice which should have been for Millie. It confused me numerous times.

❤️❤️❤️

The dual narration was 👏🏼on 👏🏼point! I love Julie Murphy books, they feel so very genuine. She speaks to a very real adolescent/teen experience. I loved Dumplin’ and Puddin’ was JUST as gripping, heart-warming and honest.
