Another Fun Listen

Typically good. I particularly liked the character development of the drunkard attorney. I rooted for that character. Otherwise, no one else really stood out for me. I’m not excited about Matt like I was Preacher or the Drifter. Then again, this is about the 40th Johnstone book I’ve listened to. I love Westerns.
There are places that repeat so closely to other Matt Jensen books, I couldn’t give this one a perfect five.
This book is appropriate for teens and up.
The narration is TOP SHELF. MUY BUENO. EXCELLENT!

Purgatory: Matt Jensen The Last Mountain Man.

Matt Jensen had just rode into the small town of Wickenburg, Arizona just avoiding a torrential down pour of rain. He bedded his horse at the livery and checked in to the local hotel. He was looking forward to a nice hot bath, hot meal, a few drinks and a good comfortable dry night of sleep. In his room he saw a flash of lighting outside that lit up a sight between the two buildings across the street. When the lightning flashed again he was sure he saw three men roughing up another who desperately needed help. Well! Matt was never one to leave one in distress so he intervened. When he arrived the three men fled. The man had taken a beating, but he didn't want a doctor, but instead insisted Matt join him for a good meal, which Matt took him up on. They ate, talked and then parted ways. The next morning Matt headed out again with no particular place in mind. He just liked to be on the move, for settling down was not for him. He liked to explore what was just over the next hill. The next town he rode into was Purgatory. He was met by a Deputy coming out the saloon as Matt attempted to enter. The Marshall was not a nice man and was was feared by everyone, for he and his eight Deputies ran the town as they saw fit. No one challenged them for fear of repercussions. Matt and the Deputy had a disagrement . This is where Matt's life changed. This is a well written book as all so far I have been by the Johnstone BrothIters have been. It contains plenty of action to give you an idea how it was in the Old West in the 1800's. Jack Garrett did an excellent narration as he always does. This story is suitable for teens and up. I recommend it and I hope you enjoy it as I did.
