Post apocalyptic zombie/vampire story

Would you consider the audio edition of Quarantined in Chaos to be better than the print version?

I did not read this in print, but I did like Piper's narration better that the first book

If you’ve listened to books by Melissa Gibbo before, how does this one compare?

This is a better book than the first of this series.

Did Piper Lewis do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Piper does a good job with her character voices, but they come off a bit mechanical. I would like to see more of a performance than a reading.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

If I was to make a movie of this story, it would probably change from it's original content. But hey, they do that with Steven King too.

good job of juggling the drama and gore

In this follow-up to ‘After the End’ I was expecting more Zombie v. Vampire action, with a little romance thrown in; that’s almost exactly what I got. The romance was a little heavier in this installment and was enjoyable. Most of the Nova Nocte, all the vampires and many of the humans, are heading north to Canada. According to Reggie, a fellow vampire and friend of Cal, the Zombie outbreak is only in North and South America; everything will be normal again soon…

Squirrel, Cal, Damon, and the rest of the Nova Nocte are still surviving. It’s year two of the outbreak and the group wants out of the quarantine zone. Luckily the Roman knows a guy, so they can get out. They just need to make to the border without getting eaten by zombies or killing each other. Along the trail to the edge of the quarantine the group encounters several trials, all of which test or even challenge they’re humanity. They meet new friends and new enemies, as well losing some of both. Melissa Gibbo did a very good job of juggling the drama and gore of the zombie with the paranormal romance aspect of the story, which becomes more prominent as you listen. I’m not complaining, it’s not my genre preference but it’s well written and requisite. The zombie action in the novel is great; Ms. Gibbo paints some rather vivid pictures with her words. Rather it’s describing scenery and sensations, or Squirrel fighting off a horde of zombies, the author delivers.

Piper Lewis is back for the narration and she did not disappoint. She is a fairly new narrator and has a talent for voices; they were all easy to distinguish and she read a good pace. Lewis has already improved since Nova Nocte book one and I look forward to hearing more of her.

Better than the first!

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed book 1 but this one was much better. The plot of this was more fast paced than the first, which I loved. We see more action, more of the gang and a little more zombie action too. I even grew to like the characters more, which was surprising because I only liked one of them in the first book!!

In this one the gang are trying to fight their way out of the Quarantined Zone to build a new life, but with a horde of Zombies plus other humans standing in their way, will they all make it out alive? Plus Squirrels life is changed forever but will she be able to deal with this new hand dealt to her??

As I said already, I enjoyed this much more. Squirrel really grew throughout this one and I even see a better side to her than I did in the first. She is still pretty intense but not as bad as she was. The plot was faster and more enjoyable in this one too. The gang have to travel to safety, so we see more action with the zombies and there is other humans to deal with, not all of them being nice! We also see more characters added, and some taken away!! It's a rollercoaster of a book.

In all this was a great second book and I really enjoyed it. I can't really see where the story could go from here but we will see when book 3 is released I guess!

Piper Lewis did a great job again. She has such an easy voice to listen to that it's easy to become immersed in the story. I did wish though that she added a few different tones for some of the other characters because it was confusing sometimes trying to differentiate between some of them. But I still enjoyed her narration!
