Publisher's summary

Let's face it. Church isn't working. We hear sermons about the abundant life Jesus promised, but how many of us are actually living it? How many of our churches are thriving? How many people in our congregations are experiencing God's blessings? Maybe it's time to call it quits.

Quit church? Well, not exactly.

Drawing from his experience coaching hundreds of churches toward true growth, Chris Sonksen calls on us to quit our casual, cultural commitment to church as we know it. No more half-hearted attempts to win the favor of God and other people by doing the right thing. No more doing things out of a sense of duty. Instead, Sonksen reveals the spiritual habits that release the blessings of God, both on each individual and on the church. He explains why we struggle to put these practices into action and gives practical solutions to move us forward into health, growth, and maturity.

“God has a brilliant strategy to reach your city-

“God has a brilliant strategy to reach your city-

you are it.”

Look around, how many people have been impacted by you? Are you in the 5%?

I hope many will take the challenge in this book. I’ll be giving this book away as a resource to people in my church. The church is better when we all do our part.

Just the message the church needs to hear!

I absolutely loved this book, and I feel it’s message is perfect for the entire church. Quit Church clearly defines the problems in the church today and what we need to do to address those problems. I can’t wait for our church to read this book together and the impact it’s going to have on so many lives!

A Must Read for Every Church Christian and Attendee

Do you want spiritual blessings as never before? Then read this book. This is not a book on how to receive more, but a book on how to enjoy God’s spiritual blessings; blessings that only He can give. You don’t earn these blessing. Money cannot buy these blessings.
It’s so sad that so many Christians use church as a ticket to heaven and miss so much of what God has in store for. We settle because we are greedy and think we can get rich by doing church our way. Rather, quit doing church our way and do church God’s way.
The words in this book come straight from a pastor’s heart, but take heed and remember, he got them from God’s heart.

thought-provoking

Definitely a challenge to the way I think about myself in the church and has challenged me to quit some of the excuses I make.

Didn't Really Inspire.....

The author may be "right" on every single point, yet after listening to this book I feel exhausted. Something in me wants to just cry out "God, please help me with all this", but somehow this book makes me feel that even THAT would not be enough...

Frankly, that's why I don't really like it... I'm not good enough to keep track of everything I must DO.

I'm halfway between the positive and pathetic review...

Quit Church

Pathetic. This author makes promises on the part of God that are totally unbiblical. Do X and God will do Y. God just wants to pour out his blessings in success and finances etc. if you do xyz. Formula for success. Don't bother.

Some good nuggets but…

Weak exegesis, borderline prosperity gospel and too focused on middle class American lifestyle overshadow the few good nuggets in this book.
There are other books that cover this material with better doctrine and a more worldwide Kingdom perspective that is applicable to a wider cultural mix
