Publisher's summary

Who reminds you of Donald Trump more? John F. Kennedy or Richard Nixon? Keep that thought to yourself for a second as I remind you that JFK and Nixon ran against each other in 1960. A member of a popular two-term administration ran against a phenom running without permission. The race saw a revolutionary use of new media. The side that lost tells anyone who will listen that nefarious outside help tipped the election. This is the story of 1960 and if we'd known more about it we'd have been less surprised when the events replayed themselves in 2016. John F. Kennedy only won one race for the White House and his slogan for that race was "Get American Moving Again" News dies and becomes history, but tonight? We raise the dead.

High energy analysis

A very engaging and entertaining retelling of the 1960 US presidential election with the uncanny parallels to 2016. The author brings an excitement and infectious energy to the topic making this an atypical and timely look at how the US political process has evolved in the late 20th century.

A fun and hilarious look into history!

I first listened to the podcast version. I liked it so much that I had to have it again! Justin has been doing various shows throughout the years. This audio book is one of the best works he has done so far! <>

Great factual story of the 60’s Election

I turned 21, the voting age at that time, in 1961, However I did go to the Democratic Convention Headquarters at the Biltmore Hotel and rubbed elbows with most of the candidates looking for the nomination. This story brings back all those memories, and fills in a bunch of questions I had at the time.
Thanks, Justin for a great narrative, well done.

Very good and interesting

Worth while examination of 2 very different yet similar presidential campaigns.
The only criticism I can give is a bit more editing to make it seem less like a podcast.

Insightful

I learned a lot about the history, but the comparisons to the 2016 campaign were mind blowing.

The Book on Nixon Vs Kennedy

I would say this is the definitive book to follow Nixon Vs Kennedy. If you want to know what really went down, get this book.

Goigg high AND low

JRY's genius is that he is as likely to dras from professional wrestling as from political science. He goes for the dirt every time,, but always for the purpose of enlightenment. A supremely entertaining tour de force. Should be an Audible original. Could have used a nip and a tuck here and there as this version, while adding some nice extras, messes up the original podcast's structure a bit.

A bit over the top performance

I like history, and I do like it not being presented in a dull academic voice. This performance could have been toned down a bit. Also it could have used a bit more editing to fit the book format. I understand it was a podcast but there is noticable cliff hangers before commercial break and recap after comercial break that frankly is anoying when there are commercials but should be removed when commercials are removed. Otherwise interesting history.
