Publisher's summary

The fate of the Lost Ark of the Covenant is one of the great historical mysteries of all time. To believers, the Ark is the legendary vessel holding the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments. The Bible contains hundreds of references to the Ark's power to level mountains, destroy armies, and lay waste to cities. The Ark itself, however, mysteriously disappears from recorded history sometime after the building of the Temple of Solomon.

After 10 years of searching through the dusty archives of Europe and the Middle East, as well as braving the real-life dangers of a bloody civil war in Ethiopia, Graham Hancock has succeeded where scores of others have failed. This intrepid journalist has tracked down the true story behind the myths and legends - revealing where the Ark is today, how it got there, and why it remains hidden.

Part fascinating scholarship and part entertaining adventure yarn, tying together some of the most intriguing tales of all time - from the Knights Templar and Prester John to Parsival and the Holy Grail - this book will appeal to anyone fascinated by the revelation of hidden truths and the discovery of secret mysteries.

Great book full of myths and wonder

This is the kind of creative thinking that is helpful to break with long-held beliefs established on empty facts. The author is credible and delivers well researched data for the reader to make up their own mind. I loved this book and would suggest it to anyone looking to think outside the box.

fun to learn about religion in Ethiopia

Regardless of how you feel about Hancock's views of what the arc is or general theme of the book, learning about the Ethiopian Jews and Christians was super interesting.

So smart, well spoken, factual, accurate, great revealing stories told by the man himself! He is every bit as human in real life too, I’ve met him and i admire his work.

Absolutely Fantastic Read

As usual, Graham Hancock breaths life into otherwise mundane details, weaving together facts from many ancient and modern sources to form a coherent and tantalizing picture of something most of the world would have soon lost to time. Thank you, Graham, for your continued contribution to the search for answer to some of humanities biggest questions. You sir, are a real life Indiana Jones.

Speculative, but that’s the fun!

A personal quest to find and see the Holy Ark of the Covenant, Hancock explores many places, documents, and sites that he weaves a fantastic speculative account of the whereabouts of the relic that is quite possibly true—but is it probable? I’m not qualified to say, but as a book it is engaging, exciting, and entertaining! I can’t ask for much more than that. 5 stars!

I liked this one better than I thought I would.

The story was good, filled with the author's travels during the time he spent writting the book. Interesting ideas, he really thought outside the box on this one.
