About this listen

Randolph W. Owens, Private Investigator is a science fiction novel. It is set in the future where space travel for people is time consuming and expensive. Moving no-living matter throughout the galaxy is cheap, common, and instant. The story begins with Randolph Owens, alone in a space ship on the way to meet a client on a distant planet. In the middle of empty space another space ship appears, after hiding in his wake. A man and his beautiful daughter introduce them selves and offer to help Randolph with his current case, finding a missing man. The first pages consist of three people in a space ship making there way to Bright Island – a planet home to only the wealthiest in the galaxy. On planet, the three, Randolph, Leonard and Leonard’s daughter Eve team up and begin the search for Toby, the missing man. The search takes them all over the planet as they learn how the very rich live and as they pick up clues. After: a party in a casino, meeting a starlet from Earth, visiting a clothing optional beach, spending a night in an artists home, and Eve disappearing, Toby and Eve are both found, unharmed, on an otherwise uninhabited planet. In Book Two the story shifts to one month later. Randolph and Eve are married. Toby and Leonard are trying to keep the secret of living matter transfer from the evil Mr. A. J. Spire. The final eighty pages are spent chasing around the Galaxy: First with a narrow escape from Earth, a visit to a friends house on a planet faraway, a crazy plan to find a once again lost Toby, and in the end saving Toby once more. The story is fast paced, light reading. There are no great messages to be learned, other than; mankind remains the same – even in the far distance future..
