About this listen
Almost 10 years ago, 18-year-old Colt McCrae was sent to jail for a crime he didn't commit. When his estranged father is murdered, he is released, and returns to Whiskey Hill, Wyoming.

But Colt is no longer a kid with a chip on his shoulder. He's a prison-hardened man with a mind for justice?

Story
No child should have to witness what twelve-year-old Cord Malone saw the day his parents were murdered and his home burned to the ground. Rescued from the blaze by his uncle Jesse, the terrible image still haunts him, as does the name of the man responsible: Levi Creed. Jesse tried to track the man down, only to lose Creed's trail. But Cord never gives up; he just waits out his young years before setting out on a trail long gone cold to satisfy the need for revenge that still burns inside him.

Story
Even at 17 years old, Carson Ryan knows enough about cow herding to realize the crew he's with is about the worst ever. They're taking the long way around to the Montana prairies, and they're seriously undermanned. While rounding up strays, Ryan hears gunshots ring across the range. Suspecting an Indian attack, he gallops straight into a US Army raid instead. The outfit he's with is nothing but a bunch of murdering cattle rustlers, and the law thinks he's one of them. Tied up, thrown in jail, and tried by a court that's more interested in hanging a man than learning the truth, Carson has only two options: escape or die trying.

Story
It’s 1852. The wounds of the Mexican War are healing. Regis Royle, co-owner of a steamship fleet, has made it out alive, relatively unscarred and with enough profit and foolhardy ambition to envision a new life in south Texas. With the help of his crack-shot kid brother Shepley, his glad-handing riverboat partner Cormac Delany, and his old friend, raw-edged former Texas Ranger Jarvis “Bone” McGraw, Regis is laying claim to the prime jewel in a magnificent rolling prairie: the Santa Calina range teeming with wild mustangs, cattle, and eighteen-thousand acres of lush promise.

Story
The great state of Texas is a land of opportunity. For outlaws. And horse thieves. And cattle rustlers. Not to mention bank robbers, train robbers, and anything-that-ain’t-nailed-down robbers. The state’s governor, Richard B. Hubbard, is at the end of his rope. He wants to clean up Texas once and for all—and he’s desperate enough to try something crazy: hire a man who can do what the Texas Rangers can’t. A man not tied down by a wife or children. Or rules. Who’s not afraid to go outside the law.

RANGE WAR
This is one of the best books I've ever listened to. Basically Colt comes home when he got out of jail. Frank Drummond is the bad guy. He wants to control the whole town. He also killed Colts father. I like range war books with this type of story line. It has a Jess Williams feel to it. When Jess gets involved in range wars. Frank keeps sending people to kill Colt. Colt keeps killing them. Colt is like a one man army. I wish there was an extra star for books that's this good. This is a movie in your mind style of book with several narrators.
