Publisher's summary

There are several things I've always known growing up as the alpha's daughter. The most important ones being:

  1. My twin brother Cord was the perfect choice as successor to our father. Mostly because I wanted nothing to do with being an alpha-in-training.
  2. I had the best friends a girl could ever ask for: Cord and Augie.

But then my brother was murdered, and I found myself needing to prove to my father that I was more than capable of finishing what Cord started.

When attending a meeting for alphas and their heirs, I quickly learn things are way worse than I ever thought. Especially when a cocky shifter forces his way into my life, making me second guess everything I ever believed.

If I can't figure out who to let in, and who to keep at bay, I could not only be risking my heart, but the people I love most in the world.

I've already lost my brother, and I'll be damned if anyone else dies on my watch.

Love love love

The main characters were amazing. Especially Taya. She is so fisty. Her courage and strength to hold back shows amazing strength, I would have slapped him lol.

5 Wolfy Stars

"This was not going according to plan, not one shitty bit."

Love love love this series!! Tons of fun, laughs, action, romance, surprises.. Don't want to say too much to avoid spoilers. Great finish to the trilogy with a happily ever after, but there are a few more books in the Raven Point Pack world! 🥳

And as usual Kasi Hollowell, the narrator, did a fan-freaking-tastic job.

"...and we would have our happy ending. Whatever came next, we would be ready for it. And we would get through it together, as a pack, as a family."

A Great Series

SHADES OF FURY
This is my first Heather Renee book and it definitely will not be my last. Shades of Fury is the first book in the Raven Point Pack series and it tells the story of a young female werewolf, Taya who suddenly finds herself in a position of power. A position she inherited when her twin brother was murdered and her father was placed in a magical induced coma.
Prior to his death her brother had discovered some disturbing information. Taya now finds herself on a mission, along with her best friend Auggie, to investigate her brother’s findings, locate the person responsible for his murder and a witch who could remove the spell from her father.

This fast -paced story had me hooked, and I found myself completely immersed in the story. I didn’t want to stop listening.

I loved the characters. Taya is strong, determined and a no-nonsense female shifter. I loved how she stepped up to the challenge when she suddenly found herself thrust in a position of leadership.

Initially, I thought her friendship with Auggie would become something more. However, as the story developed it was evident their feelings would go no further than being good friends. I enjoyed their banter and loved how they could be real with each other.

There was a hint of romance. What I found interesting was Taya’s initial resistance to Liam. His cockiness did not impress her, even though her wolf recognized him as her mate, and who could blame her. Eventually, he mellowed out, and she found herself drawn to him. The romance was served as a side dish to the intrigue.

At the end of the installment, the incidents that occurred at the start of the story were yet to be resolved. I already have book 2 lined up so I hope to get my answers soon.

SHADES OF MAGIC
Shades of Magic by Heather Renee is the second book in the Raven Point Pack series. After my adventure with book one I couldn’t wait to start this installment. I needed to know if Taya would get her revenge and locate the witch who could save her father.

At the start of this installment, Taya finds herself in a difficult situation. She needs to make a choice, which will require sacrificing a member of her pack. Will she be able to do it even if meant doing so would save her father? No matter the decision she makes, the pack will be plunged into mourning. If that was not enough there may be a traitor in the pack.

On a positive note her relationship with Liam is developing nicely. However, the road to true love does not run smoothly. Tragic events will throw a wrench into their plans for the future. I am curious to know how this will develop.

Taya’s strength shined through in this installment. Despite all the challenges faced she did not break under the pressure. It helped that she had the support of Auggie and Liam.

I continue to enjoy the camaraderie and humour that the characters brought to the story. I expected there would be lots of action in this installment, but this was not the case. Though that the one battle that occurred was intense and had me on the edge of my seat.

The story ended with a cliff-hanger leaving me with more unanswered questions.

SHADES OF DECEIT
Shades of Magic ended on a solemn note and left me wondering what effect this would on Liam and Taya’s relationship. At the start of Shades of Deceit which picked up immediately from where Shades of Magic left off, there was a moment when I thought their relationship would not survive this latest event, but my fears were for naught. I admit I did not like how Liam handled the situation. He kept pushing Taya away when he needed her the most and allowed his mother to make disparaging remarks about her. However, it was good to see him grow a pair and proved himself a worthy mate for Taya.

Shades of Deceit was loaded with action and fraught with danger. The traitor has been unmasked, and the villain got what he so richly deserved.

I enjoyed the time spent in this world and getting to know the characters so I was not ready to say goodbye. So, you can imagine my joy when I learnt there was another book which featured Liam’s brother, Aiden.

Heather Renee weaved a story filled with intrigue, romance, and action, which kept me on the edge of my seat. There was never a dull moment.

Kasi Howell narrated the series and she did an excellent job. She brought the characters to life. Her voice for each of the characters was distinct. I would definitely listen to her again.

Conclusion / Recommendation
Overall, I enjoyed the series and I am looking forward to Aiden's story. Fans of urban fantasy, werewolves and witches will enjoy this series.
