About this listen

Freddy Thresher has a problem: a really, really, big problem. He's the only one in his class who hasn't lost a tooth! All of the other students in Mrs. Wushy's first grade have signed their names on the Big Tooth, and Freddy's determined to get his name on it, too. So when Max "The Meanie" Sellars calls Freddy a baby, Freddy decides he's going to lose that tooth one way or another, even if it means getting punched in the face at recess, and even bigger trouble, with Mom!©2004 Abby Klein (P)2006 Scholastic, Inc. Editorial reviews

This charming story by former elementary school teacher Abby Klein features plenty of vivid images and laugh-out-loud moments. First grader Freddy Thresher is the only one in his class who hasn't lost a tooth, and he's feeling really left out. He comes up with a plan to lose one of his pearly whites, even if it means bodily injury. Performer Oliver Wyman narrates with inspired voices for both young and old, while the text itself teaches some great lessons about bullying, courage, and compassion.

Kids LOVED it!

What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oliver Wyman's voice applied perfectly to this text. He brought it to life. The kids (ages 4 and 6) were transfixed and wanted to hear it again--and again.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! Definitely.

I remember reading this book when I was the only person to lose my tooth too I totally related to him and learned that it is okay to be the last at anything, and don't let older sisters bother you!!😂. This book defiantly delivers a lot of laughs!!!😂❤️

Fred Berman is one of the best sound artist

Fred Berman is among the best narrators for children's stories. My kids have listened to the six Ready Freddy stories over and over for more than my fingers and toes can count. They probably have memorized all the books already. Fred Berman is a genius in sound art. My kids keep asking me when Fred Berman is going to read more Ready Freddy stories? I hope the new ones are coming out soon. Fred Berman, we love you ;-)
