Publisher's summary

Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts. Just when life can't get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she's charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper's least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him - and discovers that David's own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

Great Book But....

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes this book was time well spent because I enjoyed the story the author wrote, however being from the south the narrator's horrible "accent" kept getting in the way for me to really enjoy the book.

What did you like best about this story?

the main character was awesome.

Would you be willing to try another one of Amy Rubinate’s performances?

Unfortunately I will have to. She will probably narrate the other books in this series.

Could you see Rebel Belle being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I could, but wouldn't want the characters to be "ruined" like another failed book series adaptation...

Narration

The story was great. However, I cannot get over the horrid fake accent from the narration.

Light and Nice

I've been wanting to read this series as soon as I heard about it, but something always got in the way but now here we are and I finished the first book

So, the story is about Harper who inherits some set of super power dedicated to protect the only guy she hates in school David .. there is a lot of action and funny moments because Harper is a cheerleader and a super achiever, it was a fun light book but I didn't like how the book ended, specially the Ryan part, I don't know it feels so weird
but yeah let's see what will happen next

The narration was nice and I like her accent, she did a good job with the story

Re-read as an audiobook

Three and a half stars. There.
The first time I read this book I gave it three stars.
My review at the time...

[ “I honestly thought this would be a four star rating.........

Some thoughts about it.
This book was kind of fun, even with the stupid (useless ) love triangle in it. The heroine is the kind of character you love to hate ( OR, hate to love? ).
To make things worse, someone died and passed his powers into her making her a freaking Paladin (great idea, lots of potential there).
But then, things start going downhill with the whole relationships / love triangle thing......'sigh'.
The book started fresh and full of possibilities , in my opinion , as I said before, it had great potential.......”]

Cotillion drama

Great narration. Fun teenage read. Enjoyable but I felt like I was missing substantial ending.
Is there a part two? I needed an end or the conclusion.

Fun Beginning to a Series!

Have you listened to any of Amy Rubinate’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to one of her performances before and they're about the same. I always feel like there could be a little more improvement so that I can separate the characters a little more.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Harper, usually made me laugh with her antics and going over the situation she was now stuck in.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book. It was fun and a great set up for a series of books. I don't think I've read/listened to a book that is like this. I really like that Harper is the more "warrior" type of character instead of being the damsel in distress kind of girl. She knows she has to protect a certain person, but struggles with it and living her daily life. The end of the book was surprisingly great. I can't wait for the second one and will probably get it right away when it is released.

Contains foul language

She makes a point of avoiding "the F word" (in her words), but most other cuss words have free reign. I like stories where the female "kicks butt" (in my words) in a Buffy/Kim Possible type vibe, but the cursing gets in the way. I had to look up the spelling of the Ephors, because it sounds like "F-ers" and it confused me. Good narration.

Eh.

What would have made Rebel Belle better?

This is basically Buffy season one fan fiction with less endearing characters and witty banter.
