About this listen

A dramatic saga set against the backdrop of growing unrest in Ireland and a world on the brink of the First World War, Redemption weaves together a cast of unforgettable characters that form the heart and soul of three extraordinary Irish families. They love freedom more than life, and they will fight to the death to win it.

From the magnificence of New Zealand's green mountains, to the bloody beaches and cliffs of Gallipoli, to the streets of Dublin and the shipyards of Belfast, Redemption follows three Irish patriots on their odysseys of freedom and passion, in a monumental tale of the men and women who loved, fought, and died for the chance to live free.

This was helpful in tying up loose ends for all the main characters in Trinity.
Love the history in both books. Narration is good also.

A Great Summary of Trinity

struggled with the story. that is unusual for a uris novel. it lacked his usual passion, perhaps because it was an Irish struggle not a Jewish one.

certainly not worthy.of leon Uris

Too many characters especially at the beginning. Boring story, not up to uris’ standards at all.

I really looked forward to this novel because of its setting and reputation, but did not enjoy it. As a previous reviewer suggested, the backgound of the Irish freedom struggle, Gallipoli, and some discussion of the imperialist rationale for WW1 are fascinating and well-woven into the narrative, but as a whole this "listen" failed me - I suspect it's mostly due to the often abrupt abridgements.

The "action" scenes are probably very well-written, but I have little appreciation for those.

Wait for unabridged or read

This was a gut wrenching book (especially if you have an Irish background). A book that leaves you wanting more. I wish that this had been an unabriged book.

unfortunately, when I was about three-quarters of the way through listening to this, I discovered it was an Abridged version. if I was warned that it was abridged, I would not have bothered.

The voice performances quite good but I found Redemption somewhat disappointing after really loving Leon Uris’ other book in this series, Trinity.

Not quite what it’s big brother, Trinity, was…

I thought the Novel “Redemption “ was a continuation of “trinity”. Perhaps 40% was new information and it overlapped the time period of the earlier book.

Disappointing and Repetitive

More than the first ½ of the book os a Recap of Trinity, and there seems to be some Differences in Details

The Narrator is absolutely Horrible

The Narrator tries to emulate a Kiwi (New Zealand) accent that sound like a bad imitation of an American Accent.. It hurt my ears.

A Total Waste of Time & Money

basically half of this book is covered in the book Trinity. I wouldn't spend the money on it. it is a bit of an overstatement to call this a sequel.

Not really a sequel to Trinity
