A good set of entertaining romances...

It's a set of first three books in the series, and it definitely makes me want to read/listen on...:)

All three books can be read/listened to as stand-alones though all are set in the same circle of friends and acquaintances, so we meet them over and over again and can follow the development of their relationships as the time passes by, which is a treat in itself. All three stories are quite fast paced, with characters that are likeable and plots that contain either a secret that has to be uncovered or an obstacle that has to be overcome on the way to the happily ever after.
Although the storylines are quite similar and predictable - she is at first unwilling to marry him and then he turns out to be the most amiable of men and a knight in shining armour who finally conquers her heart:) - it does not take away any pleasure from reading/listening, and the "mystery" parts are quite well done and even surprising at times:) Overall, it's a set that is definitely entertainig and relaxing, a great choice for cold winter nights.

Narration by Duke and Duchess DeFoix is very good. I liked them switching roles as the main narators as it followed exactly the narration pattern of the books - the male/female points of view alternating between chapters. I also liked most of the voices they did, with one or two exceptions when a female character sounded a bit too male (but it's only because the other ones were so well done that these felt a bit out of league...:)) Anyway, it's a great couple of narrators:)

yes and no

Great story, with humor, suspense, wonderful characters. The male narrator has a deep, resonant voice. I could listen to him all day. The female either got better, or I got used to shrillness and overly dramatic emoting. I found her extremely annoying in the first book, so much that I have passed up purchasing books narrated by this duo who have pretentiously adopted the titles duke and duchess.

would prefer someone else reading it

im sure it was a good story but the woman reading it doesnt do it justice. im assuming shes trying to sound elegant but she sounds like an old gossiping aunt talking down her nose at everyone. which would be fine if that was how the narrator meant it but her tone doesnt seem to match the character she describes. i didnt get past the 5th chapter so no idea how good the story was but i could keep listening when the discrepancy was so grating. again, no offense to the speaker, it just wasnt the right one for the part.

The female narrator was just too much. Not enjoyable at all. Male narrator was very good!

Dislike: The female narrator's way of narrating. She just needed to turn it down a notch or three.
Like: I believe the story would have been very enjoyable with a different narrator.
I gave 4 stars because of the Duet Narration! Every romance novel should be narrated this way!

Great Series, Questionable narration

I really liked the story lines, plenty of humor, suspense & wonderful characters.
The narrators left alot to be desired! As for the male narrator his deep voice was had a deep resonant tone. Easy to listen to al day. However the female's voice was NOT as pleasant!!!! That being said, I still would listen to more books from this collection if there were any.

Fantastic clean romance

I've written individual reviews for each book in this series. Reluctant Regency Brides has become one of my favorite historical romance series. I loved the three books in this collection. Each one had me smiling and hungry for more. The Duke and Duchess DeFoix were an excellent choice for the stories and they made every character feel alive and real. I would definitely recommend anyone interested in the stories to listen to them in order. All the books are standalones, but some events overlap and listening to the book without complete knowledge of a particular event can be a bit confusing at times. Overall a fantastic romance series with sweet, wholesome moments and great characters.
