About this listen

All he wants is someone he can trust. All she wants is to belong. But when compromising circumstances force them together, do they have a chance at finding love?

Silas Riley, Earl of Inglewood, is known among his peers in Parliament as the man made of stone. As a wealthy peer, there are few he trusts with his friendship. He guards his heart and his honor with vigilance, and when an accident nearly takes his life, he’s faced with a situation which threatens his standing in society.

Growing up in the shadow of her older brother, Esther Fox’s acceptance in his circle has been indifferent at best. So, when she ends up in a compromising situation as she saves the life of her brother’s dearest friend, the Earl of Inglewood, she is forced to marry him to save her own reputation. Once again, she finds herself accepted only because of the situation and not because she is truly wanted.

Neither are prepared for a loss, which further complicates their new relationship. With such a difficult beginning, can they ever hope to understand one another, let alone find love?

A sweet/clean regency romance.

Written with so much heart.

This was a lovely story and written with so much heart. Silas did not really understand Esther or what she had felt all her life. This did cause problems for them and my heart went out to these characters. Loved the twists and looking forward to any additional books with these characters or by Sally Britton. The author choosing of Marian Hussey was brilliant!

Excellent!

As usual, I love Sally Britton stories. I especially enjoyed this Audible version. It brings to life each of the characters, the settings, the atmosphere, and the feelings of them all. Of course the story that Ms Britton created only adds to the ambiance. I have a goal to read all of Ms Britton’s stories as the ones I have read and/or listened to so far leaves me with a great feeling of awe.

Enjoyable Sweet Romance

Gentle and sweet romance story with very likable characters. I was occasionally frustrated by the lack of communication between the hero and heroine, and I thought the basis for the marriage felt a bit contrived. Otherwise, I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The narrator did a great job giving a distinct feel to each character’s voice without being over the top.
Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Sweet, clean Regency romance

Regency romance is my favorite genre, and Sally Britton writes it so well. This is a tender story that begins with a mishap and the journey that follows. Marian Hussey did a fabulous job with the narration, and this is a book that can easily be listened to in one day - it really draws you in.

Definitely recommend the audiobook!

I actually enjoyed the narratation better than my head voice and loved the story more. It was really good. I especially enjoyed that Sally could have done the expected and completely villianized one of the characters and created a ridiculous misunderstanding. It didn't need the additional drama, it is great just the way it is.
