A teenage girl is found murdered, encased in glass. Detective Dove Milson is called out to a chilling murder scene by the coast. The murder is a replica of the work of a serial killer known as the Glass Doll Murderer, who entombed his victims in glass to watch them die. He would've be the prime suspect, but he's already dead. The kicker? Dove's own niece was one of the Glass Doll's original victims.

Story
True crime writer Wylie Lark doesn’t mind being snowed in at the isolated farmhouse where she’s retreated to write her new book. A cozy fire, complete silence. It would be perfect, if not for the fact that decades earlier, at this very house, two people were murdered in cold blood and a girl disappeared without a trace.

Story
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

I would not recommend
I stuck with the whole story although the narration was hard to follow at times. I couldn’t tell which character was speaking because they all sounded the same. The characters from LA sounded just weird, which was a little distracting. And author had an LA person use words like “bloke”.
As far as the story, I thought the main character did some dumb things & I found the storyline frustrating at times. I just wanted to get to the end.
I’m sorry to say that I would not recommend this book.

horrible accents..good story
I liked the story but about halfway through I almost stopped listening because I couldn't handle the main character's accent. she is supposed to be Welsh but has been living in the states in LA so is supposed to sound American. it sounds like a strainedhorrible impression of Abad southern accent but she was supposed to have been in LA. it is so HARD to listen to.

The hardest thing to get through was the readers horrible “American” accent. She couldn’t decide if she wanted it to be Southern or upper Midwestern. This was so distracting! It would have been better if she has left the pretend accent out of the reading

Why isn't this book getting reviews?
This book is everything you would want in a thriller. It's more realistic than most, interesting premise, well fleshed characters... It isn't even on the radar when lesser books are on the best seller list. I'm picky but I think this book flowed, and the beautiful lilt of the Welsh accent is a bonus.
Loved it!

A Surprisingly good story
Liked the characters; fairly believable with interesting twists. Certainly entertaining and well written. Some transitions were a bit difficult to follow, but the story remained understandable.
