Publisher's summary

His to defend. Hers to trust. Theirs to love.

Haley and Cortez's story is magical.

After Haley's life disastrously imploded, trusting a man again is out of the question. Seeking a fresh start, she lands in the mountain shifter town of Deep Hollow, home to the Silvertip grizzly bear clan. When she meets rowdy bear shifter Cortez, her life might change again - if she can allow herself to trust him.

A bear shifter on the edge....

Thrill seeker Cortez lived life on a risky edge - until a terrible accident changed everything. Tormented by his failure to protect his friends, he now struggles to control his troubled inner bear. Then he meets Haley and faces the biggest risk of all: opening his heart to claim the fascinating woman as his mate.

A shifter town about to join together to battle unknown enemies. But when Haley's ugly past catches up to her, it will take more than Cortez's protective instincts and more than her own untapped inner strength to face it. It will take an entire town of wild shifter magic to unleash the fierce courage needed to protect everyone's safety - and to bring together two hearts destined to belong to one another.

To the listener: This story is filled with heart-pounding romance, thrilling adventure, and some awesome sexy times. If you love big ole grizzly bear shifters who have a soft spot for their fated mates, the charming and funny details of a shifter-filled small town, and the beautiful power of true love to always save the day, this book is for you.

Haly and Cortez's story! Love the Silvertips!!

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I own this ebook and the audiobook, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have bought the whole series in ebook and filled out my collection of the audiobooks for this series too!

This is the third book in the Silvertip Shifters series. I own 24 ebooks by J.K., and now 6 audiobooks. This is for adults only due to the steamy content. This audiobook is about 5 hours long or the ebook which is about 210 pages long.

Haley is house sitting for the Walkers. She is human, but she knows about shifters. She is a writer, and she has a past she is trying to get away from including her ex. Cortez is trying to forget the past and an accident that occurred. They are trying to figure things out. There are some misunderstandings and some trouble. This was a great story. I couldn’t put it down. Same narrator and she does a great job. I really like the Silvertip Shifters and wonder when I will the matriarch and patriarch make an appearance because they have been on vacation the whole time so far. I can’t wait to see whose story is next.

I highly recommend to any bear shifter fans because it is a great series!

Really good !

All aspects of this listen are top knotch ! Cover Art is well done. Narration is excellent. The Storyline itself is engaging and transports you to a different place. Sexy and sizzling in all the right places. I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18 years old.

Warms the heart

This was such a sweet romance with some suspense mixed in. I’ve had the book a while but had an opportunity to listen to the audiobook so I jumped at it. I loved it! The narration was really great. This author is amazing. It was short but so good. I know a lot of people don’t like short books or audios but this one had a lot in it. I liked how the romance had chemistry and all the sweet meetings before the sex. I liked how the brother was scary and seemed to want to kill just because the heroine was human. I can’t wait to listen to his book. I felt like I was drawn into a magical world that really exists and I want to go back and stay.

I Wouldn't Mind Being Rescued By Cortez

Rating: ❤❤❤❤.5
Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥
Narrator Performance: 🎧🎧🎧🎧.5

Cortez! Oh how I waited for your story cuteness. You did not disappoint.

RESCUE BEAR is the fourth story in J.K. Harper's Silvertip Shifters series and the first full length, although shortish, novel. The added length was super awesome! It provided a means for Harper to not only add some more depth to her always likeable characters but also a fuller plot. Plus ACTION! This series hadn't had any crazy shifter action yet and I think it was due.

Readers/listeners first learned of Cortez in Hunter's Moon: Quentin. He's considered the crazy screwup of the Walker family. At least that's the impression I got. And then in Taming Her Bear: Beckett it was again pointed out how wild (in a thrill seeker/partier way) he was. Only in this book we find that that's not exactly an accurate depiction of him. That there was a method to his madness. He had a reason for seizing the day all the time. It wasn't what I expected of him. I was thrilled to find out that there was so much more to Cortez.

Haley too was a character that was super easy to care about. I mean who doesn't love a romance writer? 😍 Plus she stands her ground when needed and she knows how to keep a secret. 🤐

I told you there was action in this right? This new (at least to me) aspect of Harper's writing was well received by me. I appreciated the addition to her already fantastic work. There were some OMG and holy $h!t moments too. There was one surprise that despite the foreshadowing I didn't see coming at all. 😲

PET PEEVE ALERT:
1) Due to the magic of whispersync things can be noticed about a book that wouldn't come through on the audio version. Like editing issues. The one that I see most is not knowing when to use God versus god. I found this mistake numerous times.

2) This had a few continuity conundrums. Well, really just one. A big one IMO. The horses in this story were said to have been part of the Lodge and on it's property for years however in Mountain Bear's Baby: Shane it was clearly stated that they kept no animals on the property. I had made a note of it at the time so when that part came up it JUMPED out at me. Another continuity thing that bugged me but technically isn't a real issue is that this book starts before Beckett's book and ends after it. I found it weird and I didn't really like it.

Yet again Harper has provided a fantastic story for her readers. It's a complete standalone but you'll get more enjoyment from the experience if you fully immerse yourself in the fabulous and wonderful world that the author has created. I know I'm completely enamoured with it.

ABOUT THE NARRATOR:
Beth Roeg gave another smashing performance. I ALWAYS love her narration. She instantly draws the listener into the story with the way she paints a scene with her voice.

SOME THINGS THAT MADE ME SMILE:
'Mr. Hottie Forest-Smelling McSexypants'

'King Lear the grumpy sorrel gelding, who Cortez was sure was perpetually grumpy because he'd only been gelded a few years ago and probably remembered his stallion days with frustrated longing'

'F@¢king fried $h!t on a shingle.'

Really sweet story

I really enjoyed this sweet romance. It is low angst, but stuff does happen before the HEA. It was a more realistic romance than most I have read in terms of the progression of their relationship. It also had me smiling often at the humor in the story. I started it last night and really looked forward to picking up where I left off when I got up this morning.
The narrator did a great job, and I will look forward to hearing her again. I think she was a great choice for these books. I will certainly read/listen to more of JK's books.

Rescue Bear, Cortez

What a wonderful story! The performance was top notch! The romance was awesome and well done. I wish the whole series was available in audio! Beth Roeg did a really outstanding job, with Harper’s down to earth great writing. Loved it so much! I want more please!

Great continuation

I absolutely loved this book. I was thrilled to get to see couples from the previous books and how they were doing as well as getting to know the new couple. Both of them have darkness in their pasts they have to learn to deal with and over come. I loved hearing how these two got to know each other and started to truth one another. This book also revealed a lot more about other issues in this world like people who hunt shifters but Hayley and Cortez made such a good couple and they trusted each other. They were both such strong characters. I also really want to know about the other brothers and what will happen for them.
