About this listen

Evan

Eight years ago, I was cast out of my family, out of my pack, out of the very land that had nurtured me since I was born. The charge? Shifting in front of a human.

It might have been worth the banishment...if I’d actually done the crime.

Now that my alpha is dead, I’m coming back home. I’m determined to return triumphant, to prove myself as the next bloodline alpha.

Pack politics are complicated. But meeting Mike, my own sweet, eager omega? Loving him is the simplest thing I’ve ever done in my life.

Too bad I can’t keep him.

Mike

Gypsum is a small town. Crowded with tourists in the winter, dead economy in the summer. I’ve always dreamed of roaming beyond its borders, seeing the world through the lens of my camera.

When he comes to town, it’s like a little slice of that forbidden, exotic world comes with him.

I know that getting involved with Evan is a bad idea...but I don’t know how to stay away.

And finding out he’s my fated mate? Well, that changes everything.

The Alpha Comes Back is a mpreg shifter audio book featuring a brooding alpha, a small town omega, and one guaranteed happy ending. Each audio book in the Gypsum series can be listened to in any order.

Wow Love this audio. Preston Walker sure knows how to get your attention and keep it till the end. Evan and Mark are Love at first sight then they are off the charts in their rough road till everything works their way together.
Josh Cates did a super job, could listen to him all day.

Evan is finally able to return home after being banished. He is still the spoiled Alpha he wad when he left even if he has more life experience. Mike is super sweet, and the secrecy is hurting him. I wanted more to happen after the confession at the end.

This book was well written, the character development and the story lines flow effortlessly. Evan was expelled by his Alpha father who would rather believe lies than his own sons truth's. He is banished only to return 8 yrs. later when he dad dies. His brother is now the Alpha. Things are different, but also the same. He runs into Mike, a bartender and an omega he finds him interesting and wants to get to know him better. The story takes off from their. It's a well rounded and well thought out book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. An avid listener/reader in Rock Tavern, NY.

A very enjoyable listening naration by Mr. Cates

I really enjoyed this story. I haven't really been a fan of Preston Walker before this, but I found myself entranced both by the story and by the narrator. There is a very good chance that I'll be buying the next book in this series soon.

Alpha Evan returns home after the death of his father, the Pack Alpha. Evan was thrown out of his pack based on a lie from another packmate.

At the bar, where Evan went to unwind, was the bartender, an omega. The attraction is immediate for both shifters. Too bad being fated doesn't make a relationship easy. And Evan needs to find his own place in the pack he has been away from for eight years.

Narrator Josh Cates brings the feels to the story. His voice, and the cadence he uses to keep the flow going, are easy to listen to.

This is a great start to a new series! I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait go read the others. The reader was perfect and I hope he narrates the other books in this series.

Loved it!

Evan was exiled from his pack and home eight years before. He was accused of shifting in front of humans although he hadn't. It was his father who exiled him as alpha of the pack. And on flimsy testimony. The tension between him and his older, now alpha, brother is very thick and his mother tries her best to mellow the tension. He decides not to stay at home and heads to a hotel. At a bar he meets an omega and is drawn to him. Michael is drawn to Evan too and they carry on a relationship. But things are still tense and Evan doesn't trust his brother who reminds him too much of their father.
Josh Cates has a wonderful voice that brings every character to life. His voice can be mellow and soothing even while exhibiting emotions as he tells the story of two men seeking love.

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between.
