About this listen

"An intense, high-energy, what-lurks-in-the-shadows tale of monster, both men and otherwise. Steve Diamond can make you shiver." (Terry Brooks, New York Times best-selling author of the Shannara Chronicles)

When Jack Bishop's father is abducted and a supernatural monster is let loose in his small town, Jack discovers he has the ability to see the psychic residue left behind by monsters and murder victims.

Along with the mind-reading Alexandra (Alex) Courtney, Jack uses his growing ESP abilities to stop a series of murders in town and finds out why his father was taken.

This author's revised edition of Residue is a paranormal/supernatural thriller filled with monsters, mayhem, and mad science. Can Jack learn to navigate his newly discovered supernatural world before it consumes him?

"Residue is a fast-paced, fun read with great characters and the best prom scene since Carrie. Steve Diamond writes kick-butt mutants, psychics, and guns. I love it!" (Larry Correia, New York Times best-selling author of the Monster Hunter series)

"I really enjoyed Steve Diamond's novel, Residue. Steve Diamond is not just a writer to watch...he's a writer to read. Give yourself a treat and look for Residue! I look forward to Steve's future works." (Robert McCammon, New York Times best-selling author of Swan Song and Boy’s Life)

"Residue will scare you—that's its primary goal—but along the way it will touch you, shock you, make you laugh, make you cheer, and make you think. Horror has been waiting for Steve Diamond." (Dan Wells, New York Times best-selling author of the John Cleaver series and the Partials Sequence)

I tore through this book so fast that I'm sorry it's over. Fabulous, fun ride, with just enough horror and just enough humor. I snuck back to it away from "real life" whenever I had a second. Can't wait for the next one.

What an adventure!

The premise and the characters are the backbone to this awesome book. Maybe it’s just me but I didn’t feel a lot of the horror elements that Steve is so good at. But, that, notwithstanding, the story really delivers! Great action, great dialogue, great pacing, great pro’s. Steves talent as an author is definitely on display here! Thanks for an awesome ride, Steve! Can’t wait to read the sequel!

Ps, this new narrator rocks!!

Really loved the Intrigue!

I first heard about the book while listening to a podcast co-hosted by the author (The Writer Dojo). I don’t have much time to read physical books anymore, so I was very excited to see it finally available on Audible. The story exceeded my expectations and I’m looking forward to more entries in the series.

A Long Anticipated Story

I was hesitant because I haven’t ventured into the horror genre and wasn’t sure if it would be for me. I was dead wrong. Very engaging story, relatable characters, and fresh twists on classics.

Love this series!

Aside from a start that feels slightly off-kilter, Residue is an absolute banger. The dynamic between the two main characters is heartwarming and neatly sidesteps many of the more frustrating YA tropes.

The decision to move them out of high school makes sense, but it also makes several of the scenes feel out of place -- you can tell they were originally written with a high school in mind.

Still, the character dynamics are fantastic, and the action a lot of fun. I can't wait for the sequel.

Great dual protagonists

I don't normally listen to books of this genre, so I was pleasantly surprised to find how much I enjoyed it. I liked the dynamic between the two main characters, and the lore sprinkled here and there, especially with the twist reveals at the end, left me wanting more. I'll definitely be getting the sequel when it comes out!

Pleasantly Surprised

I am glad this was rereleased and updated. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Look forward to more.

Fun fast paced story

I really enjoyed this book. it was like a more exciting "Odd Thomas," and its power sets for the protagonist reminded me of playing various White Wolf story teller games. The cadence of the reader bothered me at first, but it grew on me.

Excellent listen

Story:
I'd previously read the kindle release (under a now-defunct publisher) and this revised/expanded edition was an improvement. Looking forward to the sequel. (including a teaser for that sequel was a nice touch)

Audio:
Good narration, good sound quality. Will keep an eye out for this narrators' other work.

Good revamp
