Secure income in retirement

This is an excellent book on how to build a reliable stream of secure income in retirement. Many authors provide good high-level guidance but fail to explain the specifics of how to select dividend-paying companies and build a balanced portfolio. Herold explains his approach fully with detailed examples that clearly show how to perform thorough evaluations of prospective companies.
If you are looking for a practical guide to building an income-generating portfolio, this is the perfect audio book for you.

Another genuine joy

I started by dipping into this book, and discovered a list of 365 reasons why retirement is so enjoyable – some things that are now a joy to be able to do, and others that are a joy to be able to give up doing. But I couldn’t just look at one of the 365 reasons each day – I had to keep going. And then I noticed that, while there were some reasons I didn’t identify with, there were others that fitted me perfectly. So I started listing their numbers, for future reference. After 10 I stopped. Now I just pick up the book and look at the reasons at random . It always puts a smile on my face.

Turn my 401K & IRA into income

As I'm approaching retirement in the next couple of years, I began wondering how to turn my 401K & IRA into income. After years of investing for growth with the advice of a financial councilor; I was dissatisfied with the recommended approach. Selling my hard earned nest egg didn't make sense. I started searching for different books and learned about dividend investing, but the primary suggestion was invest in companies that have a long track record of paying a growing dividend. Is that all there is to it? No, not by a long shot. Mr. Herold clearly articulates a philosophy and method for researching if a company's financials indicate it has the wherewithal to continue paying the growing dividend. It also identified investment engines I had not heard of before, such as Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). These are in addition to the S&P 500 long term dividend champions.

Great spot to start

Wow talk about a timely book. Myself and half of America are trying to figure out retirement and this book is a great spot to start. It gave me invaluable insights, had practical suggestions and made me do some serious introspection. I listen it once and I'm starting on it a second time, as the book said I can't afford to mess it up, retirement is how I'm going to spend the rest of my life and not every day (in retirement) is a vacation day.

Winning at Retirement

It has good takeaways and the essential information are simplified. I'm considering it as a treasure chest as it has been filled with financial tips and advise anyone retired or who's nearing retirement. As someone that works regularly with people either in retirement or entering retirement “Winning at Retirement” addresses and give guidance to so many of the areas of concern and answers some of the real world questions we all have with solid tools to help guide you through the maze and confusion of entering this phase of life. An excellent resource for anyone in retirement, thinking about it or helping others with planning for it. The chapters on Health and wellness and Legacy are particularly interesting as som many financial books do not address these extremely important issues that all retirees face. Well done!

Not what was advertised in description

The entire book is just financial definitions. The intro listed all of the pertinent questions one has when considering retirement and none were answered. It should be more clearly stated in the book description that this is just a list of 80+ financial terms. Not helpful at all.
